Only stayed 3 days, didn't want to leave. Staff were friendly, nothing was too much trouble, owner a delight, made us feel like part of the family. A very relaxing environment, the decor and attention to detail spot on. Nice walks around the surrounding area. Food was tasty and nicely presented. Receptionist, Katie i think? Impressed us most, nothing was beyond her or too much trouble, she even helped us with the bags. A big thank you to everyone, will come back and stay.

Staying in the Philipburn Hotel at the moment. Rooms are stunning in this hotel, our room is over 2 floors, livingroom area and huge bathroom on lower floor, then a beautiful bedroom up a flight of stairs, the bedroom has a small balcony which looks put over a fishpond. The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food is amazing, dinner last night was of a very high standard and the breakfast is the best I have ever had in a hotel, great choices from cold buffet to various cooked breakfast and nothing is any problem for the staff. If you are in the Borders book into this hotel you will not be disappointed . Warm and cosy and extremely friendly with superb food. Well done all.

We travel a lot, not always sure where we will be staying on any given night. In early October we made a quick trip to Scotland to visit the woolen mill where the Lochcarron kilts are made, in Selkirk. Later in the day our search for accommodation led us to The Philipburn House Hotel across the river Tweed and up a little winding access road; this was a Best Western Hotel, surprising to find in ancient Selkirk! The building dates back to the 1700's and was most likely a Manor House at one time; the interior was exquisite and services entirely up-to-date, we slept well and much enjoyed the hearty Scottish breakfast; in all a delightful experience! Back down the little winding access road, crossed the River Tweed and headed West to Galloway where we discovered another outstanding place to rest for a night..

Room Tip: Consider yourself fortunate if there is an available room, best to book ahead.

Dear Jim-Bowie-180 Thank you for your recent review. We are delighted to hear that you found all staff friendly and found the room spacious and clean. The deluxe Mezzanine rooms are great for a break away as they give guests ample rooms with a lovely outlook to the gardens or the Koi pond. We hope to welcome you back to the hotel in the future.
