Now firstly I'm not hard to please as I have stayed in some reasonable places that were not very expensive and really lovely , so I really don't like giving a bad review but I was really disappointed especially after reading good reviews on this site, and trip advisor about this hotel but no way should this be a 3 star B&B it's in a poor state of repair not too clean and a very musty smell hits you when you go in . Our twin room no 8 was shabby to say the least with paper coming away from ceiling and our shower had no water pressure and a tiny shower head , shower door would not open properly and I found my bed very hard , squeaky and uncomfortable, plus lots of hairs on one of my pillows, couldn't complain as the owner was away with only her daughter left in charge, so no staff really , we only stayed for the one night but quite honestly if I hadn't pre booked I would have just driven a bit longer to head home. I wish I could have taken photos but unfortunately my phone charger decided to stop working!!! Breakfast was adequate with the usual choices but the room that it was served in was quite cold and I couldn't get both black pudding and haggis on the full Scottish brekky just one or the other which I thought a bit stingy. On the up side we had a lovely meal at the Cavens Arms in town the previous night which I would highly recommend. So if you are really desperate and have no where else available it would do , but I definitely would not recommend to anyone until it gets a much needed

I have been staying at the Aberdour Hotel for the past 3 weeks with a group of university students. It has been a lovely stay. Amanda, the proprietor of the hotel was absolutely amazing- very kind and accommodating in every way. My room was changed regularly, towels refreshed and things attended to. This hotel is well located- not far from the town center and near the train station, buses etc.The people in this town are also quite lovely- some of the friendliest that I have encountered in my travels abroad. I was astonished at the choices offered for breakfast- not to mention that there was always fresh fruit, cereals etc. available. Working at the desk provided a lovely view overlooking the bowling green and old Church of Scotland. It was a bit drafty by the window- but overall I very much enjoyed my stay here...

Located close to the town centre, the Hotel was a stones throw away from the Big Burns Supper festival tent. The owners were both pleasant and made us feel welcome. Yes as other reviews have stated the Hotel could do with updating. The room however was clean with nice fresh sheets and although I slept well my partner commented on the noise from the air vent. It was blowing a gale outside i must add. Breakfast was lovely, we went for the full Scottish with Haggis which set us up for the day after a night of partying in Dumfries!
