Owner description: Edinburgh Castle is a world famous icon of Scotland and part of the Old and New Towns of Edinburgh’s World Heritage Site. It was recently voted top UK Heritage Attraction in the British Travel Awards and is Scotland’s number one paid-for tourist attraction. This most famous of Scottish castles has a complex building history. The oldest part, St Margaret's Chapel, dates from the 12th century; the Great Hall was erected by James IV around 1510; the Half Moon Battery by the Regent Morton in the late 16th century; and the Scottish National War Memorial after the First World War. The castle houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th century gun Mons Meg, the One O' Clock Gun and the National War Museum of Scotland.

Great experience, have been there more than twice. Close to Glasgow, a day trip is enough to visit and explore the castle. The castle covers a large area, keep some time in hand to explore all the nooks and corners, lots of historical facts embedded in the guided tours.

This place is so epic and shows how great Scotland is.

The views are unreal and the place was kept to high standards.

I would recommend to came to this historic part of Scotland.

A really interesting tour of Edinburgh castle last week, with an amazing guide called Alisdair.

He provided us with a lot of information on Scottish history including St. Margaret and her son Kind David 1st.

Lovely castle with lots of historical features and mini-museums that made it easy to learn the history of Edinburgh.

My only complaint is the price, £17 for an hour of walking around seemed a bit much to me, and the little restaurant and tea room was also way to expensive.

The castle has a great amount of history and plan at least an hour if you want to visit every segment of the castle. We were amazed by the view from the castle walls over Edinburugh. Be aware that it can get very busy so be at leat 15min early for your guided tour. The gift shops within the castle have great memorabilia.
