This is not really a traditional Hotel. More like a serviced apparent with a receptionist and a functional bar.

The real draw of this hotel are the rooms. All very spacious, big sofa, very comfortable beds with crisp linen. The desks are positioned well to allow those wanting to work from their hotel rooms to do so with comfort. All rooms come with iHome dock, only a draw for those with a iPhone.

The rooms are all well equipped with a small kitchenette which has a fridge and microwave oven.

The rooms are all equipped with massive showers with great water preassure.

The real wow factor about this place is that every room comes with floor to ceiling windows as this is a brand new building.

The only downside is that there is no pool or a proper in house restaurant. Althoug I hardley eat in hotel restuarants this was no big loss to me personally as there are number of reasonably priced restaurants nearby.

All in all a great two week stay!!!

I had the opportunity to stay in the Residence Inn Edinburg during the week of March 19-25, The hotel is very modern and is centrally located to everything. We were able to walk to all of the sites without any problem. The is a full english breakfast each morning and the staff is absolutely great!! The rooms was extrememly clean and up to date. There is a Starbucks and grocery store in walking distance if you need anything. It is in the Quartermile area in which I believe they are renovating old building and using them for living and working spaces. The National Scottish Museum is very close and one of the great things I like about Edinburgh. The hotel gave us a Map of the city and really enjoyed the stay here. I would recommend this location for anyone staying in Edinburgh!!! You must see the Castle, Gilmorton Cove, National Scottish Museum, Royal Mile, Queens Home and Parliment.

We stayed for one night in March. Everything was fine until we were awoken on the Sunday morning at 7.30am by the family next door - small children crying, screaming, running around etc. They might as well have been in the room with us. The room had a connecting door to the room next door. I don't know whether all rooms have this, hopefully not, but there was no sound proofing between the rooms and there are no carpets on the floor so when something was dropped in the room next door it echoed loudly into our room. We put clothes along the bottom of the door to stop the light coming in from next door but it didn't stop the noise. Apart from that, for the money, we liked the hotel and the location but would probably not go again for fear of a rubbish sleep. Surprised a brand new hotel like this has this sort of issue.

The location is great for close access to Waverly station and the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, museums and the main shopping on Princess Street. The front desk staff was Very frieldly, accomodating and helpful. The room was an upgraded room (515) and was very spacious. The feather pillows were great. Not much of a view but we did not go to Edinburgh to stay in the room.
Negatives - 1. The shower had mildew build up in the grout and should be attended to soon. The hotel is 5 months old and it appears that this has not been addressed. 2. The TV Menu does not work as designed and there was no work around information in the room. The front desk staff was very helpful in correcting the situation. 3 - The room was on the front of the hotel and with the window open to cool the room the noise from kids and skateboarders on the pavers was unacceptable. 4 - The breakfast area is Claustrophobic for the size of the hotel. People were nearly setting on top of each other during the breakfast. 5 - The in room telephone was not working and would not charge. Maintenance was informed on my departure.

The negative comments would not deter me from returning as I believe the management will address the issues under their control.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Residence Inn.
Location is good, 15 min walk into the city, 5 min walk to supermarket.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and offered good service, going out of their way to book tours and advice for our short break.
Rooms were bigger than expected, and comfortable and clean.
The breakfast provide was not fancy, but sufficient and within expectations.
However, they have a very limited menu for other meals, and the soup I ordered tasted like it came from a can.
Overall, a good hotel for 2, but would not recommend for children.
