We've stayed here before and were happy to return. The hotel is right in the heart of the city so it's handy for everything but the rooms are at the back of the hotel and so they're quiet and don't have a lot of road noise. The beds are so comfy with lovely fresh linen, towels are big and fluffy and they provide dressing gowns and slippers too. There is a well stocked mini bar which is the best that I've seen anywhere, but with popular bar and restauarant downstairs you don't really need it. The rooms are modern and I think we're probably refurbished quite recently. We will happily stay here again in the future.

We stayed here when going to the rugby at Murrayfield Stadium. Although not the closest place, we walked in about 35 mins. It couldn't be better placed for the city centre though, literally a minute or 2 from Princes Street.
The room was really nicely decorated, had a huge bed, a smeg mini fridge and a nice bathroom with rainfall shower.
We phoned when booking to see if a room could be ready for us even though we were arriving early (as it would be a bit of a pain to go back to check-in) and when we arrived about 2 hours early we were sent up to our room within a couple of minutes. They did say though, even if we'd not been able to get in straightaway they would have put our bags in there for us while we were out at the game.
Later on we went back to the bar for a few drinks and were impressed with the decor as well as the selection of beers and gins.
We opted for breakfast too so the next morning we both received a huge Scottish fry up that was extremely tasty.
For the price we paid (booking directly with the hotel) I couldn't recommend it enough and we would definitely look to stay here again when back in Edinburgh.

First of all the bar and bar staff are great - the rooms are well equipped, BUT impossibly noisy, with refuse trucks emptying bottles at 03:00 and 05:00 in the morning right outside our bedroom window, even equipping ourselves with ear plugs for our next night made no difference. The sad thing was when I complained about this on checking out, I was met not just by indifference by the Geordie lady, but even more so by the old "pass the buck mentality", i.e. its not our fault, its the councils and no offer was made to satisfy my complaint - this spoilt our whole trip. I would add that the first evening we ate in the bar/restaurant downstairs and although the food is palatable, too much was deep fried and the wine is expensive for what it is!

Room Tip: The Frederick House hotel opposite has quiet rooms!
