Accomodation - Great hotel very friendly staff but no WiFi when I visited and didn't get sorted that night. Food - We were put on a table that wobbled and friends of staff were prioritised to a better table for lunch. Staff were very abrupt and they were moving tables around the room whilst we were eating.

The beds were extremely comfortable, best night sleep ever, Andrew got us an early check in and pointed out some great tourist attractions. Room was clean and spacious and will hopefully return in the near future

Decent stay, staff friendly and room was nice. Bed comfy, nice powerful warm shower, bathroom functional though small. Bathroom fan was very noisy though. Room was clean and warm enough though temperature control was via an electric heater so took a little while to change temperatures.
A little noise could be heard from cars outside but nothing too bad during the night.

We didn’t try Beefeater next door for food but were told we couldn’t come in for a drink with our 12 year old on the Saturday night as they didn’t allow children in after 8pm. Thought that a bit strange for a pub/restaurant joined on to a hotel that may attract families.

Hotel location is handy for Edinburgh centre via bus, 2 mile walk or taxi (Uber quoted around £12). Portobello is closer.

very tired & knocked-about room decor
only one stained chair - RIDICULOUS
unpleasant approach to the room 118 (corridors grubby, carpet old and disgusting)
DANGEROUS stair arrangement
FOUL stench in the air (not just cigarette smoke)
curtain hanging barely effective
bathroom extractor fan intrusively noisy
room heating by way of electric convector heater (no fan): the room was cold when we arrived but two hours later after dinner the room temperature was adequate.
NONE OF THIS HAS EVER BEEN TRUE IN ANY OTHER PREMIER INN
......
apart from asking for the curtains to be re-hung so that they closed (the room is 11 feet tall) I did not communicate any of this with the staff. Why? Frankly: they know the hotel shortcomings and have not fixed them.

This was our 6th stay at this hotel and we always book it to attend an international rugby match at Murrayfield. Great accommodation and the staff are always very professional, well mannered and very friendly. We have stayed at a number of premier inns and always enjoy our stay but this is our favourite one.
