We can't think of anything negative to say about the Albyn Townhouse. The bedroom and breakfast room were both spotless, and the choice at breakfast is almost limitless. As I was running in the marathon while we were staying here and needed an early breakfast Lydie arranged for pastries for both of us. Both Lydie and David, and the staff that we met, were all as helpful and friendly as possible. Plus, with a pleasant roughly 30 minute walk to the Royal Mile and some nice restaurants round the corner from the B&B, the location is very good too. We recommend.

A perfect Edinburgh townhouse and such a delightful B&B in an excellent location in the vibrant and elegant Bruntsfield area of this wonderful city. Lydie and David have worked hard with their team to create a perfect venue in which to stay. The townhouse has immense character and is furnished to the highest standard with a taste that fits the type of property that it is. Our room was excellent in every way. Breakfast was of the highest standard and a huge selection. Thank you for allowing into you home and making us feel so special. Marianne and Jeremy

Room Tip: The whole experience is first rate

My husband and I stayed at the Albyn Townhouse at the end of our almost 3 week Scottish walking adventure at the end of May, and by far this was an outstanding place to stay. From the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by the lovely Lydie to the morning we had to leave, everything had been exceptional. Our room was spacious, stylishly decorated with a large comfortable bed, and quiet. Breakfast was first class, providing an extensive buffet of cold items which included, but not limited to, compotes and pastries, however the cooked made to order meals were not only varied but absolutely delicious. We used the local bus service to get in and back from the Old and New Towns with ease. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

We visited The Albyn Townhouse for our 10 Year Anniversary from the USA. We made the best of our trip by renting a car and visiting all over, but we also spent a lot of time in the city. Parking in the city is limited and expensive, being able to park here for 5 Pounds a day was a steal of a deal! We were 20 mins walking distance from the Royal Mile and 25 to Edinburgh Castle. It is a beautiful walk and there are so many shops and eating places on the way you are never left looking for anything. Lydie was there and greeted us upon arrival, she even arranged for an early arrival for us but through my miss understanding we ended up arriving later but the gesture was sweet. Lydie is a sweetie, you will love her and David. You can tell they love what they do.
The breakfast is wonderful! You can get something different everyday of your stay, in addition to breads, toast, cheese, fruits and the homemade jam cannot be missed!
If we ever make it back to Scotland, and I sincerely hope we do, we will be staying at the Albyn Townhouse.

The location is perfect--easy access to the local bus system, easy walking distance to Old Town and easy drive to/from the airport. The house is located at the end of a tiny street, so it is very quiet and safe. Upon arrival, we received a warm greeting from Dave and a visit from young Louis. Dave gave detailed instructions on where to catch the bus, how to get around town and some of the family's favorite places in town. The house is decorated beautifully, with family, local and country history all mixed together. The townhouse is obviously a cherished labor of love for Dave & Lydie! My husband and teenage son and I stayed in room 3--a beautiful, comfy and well-appointed room with plenty of space for us to relax. The beds and the chairs were very comfy. All the room appointments were in perfect condition. It did take us some trial and error to learn how to flush the toiled (hint: give it a firm, strong push of the handle).
My sister and her husband stayed in Room 7 (top of stairs, amazing post-card view). Breakfasts were delicious, perfect and filling. The compote is quite good! Those who tried the haggis (first time!) in my group liked it. I was not as adventurous but can attest that the vegan haggis was good.
Overall, a memorable and wonderful experience. Dave and Lydie (and their children) treated us like their own family and so welcoming from my first contact with them to inquire about reserving rooms until after we arrived back home in the USA.
I can't recommend Albyn highly enough! I look forward to returning to Edinburgh just to stay at the Alybn Townhouse.

Room Tip: Room 3 is perfect for a family, room 7 has amazing views!
