Lovely friendly hotel staff, excellent amenities for a very relaxing stay. We stayed for a family wedding which was really well organised, the attention to detail was superb. Even the weather put on a good display.

Would love to be able to say that we always ensure that the sun is shining for all weddings - but I would be telling fibs. We were all pleased to see how well it all went, and at the end of the day, it is the attention to detail that the team put in that makes us stand out from many other venues.

With my best regards,

Dog friendly hotel with good sized comfortable rooms. Extensive gardens to walk and exercise a dog.Outstanding Breakfast and Dinner with first class service. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble to ensure a perfect stay. Hotel just outside St. Andrews with great shopping and sites to visit.. Can highly recommend and hope to visit again soon

Good to see that you (and also your dog) had a great time with us at Rufflets - and thank you for the kind feedback. The team do work hard to help make the experience all that much better, and usually all done with a warm smile.

Well maintained hotel with friendly efficient service. Excellent food with well balanced menu. The dinner inclusive rate is fair and allows you to alternate between the table d'hote and a la carte menus. The dining room has recently been refurbished and the decor and layout are relaxed.

Good to see that you were able to take advantage of the dinner inclusive rate - it does offer a bit of a saving, and I was glad to read how much you enjoyed our new (ish) Seasons Restaurant.

We spoke to several people who return to Ruffletts year after year. We may join them !We loved it. The grounds are magnificent; a leisurely walk after a long journey was just what we needed. Admittedly, we had sunshine every day. Isn't it always like that ? Sufficient parking.Huge, comfortable bed.Welcoming staff, who were genuinely keen on making you feel at home. The country house feels more your home than a formal hotel ( perhaps a little florid in carpet &upholstery patterns?). We had dinner there: superb. Amuse bouche, perfectly cooked grouse ( not easy; it can be dry or tough),halibut with a crisp crust. The wine list is limited but reasonably priced. I Breakfast the next morning was relaxed and cooked to order. One quibble : why play music/radio programmes over breakfast in such an idyllic setting ?

So glad to read how much you enjoyed the visit to Rufflets - by all accounts it was a great expereince, and thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback - we do listen. As for the radio, we have this on in the background to have news, weather, traffic conditions that we know some (not all) like to listen to - and the horse-racing tips are usually decent as well.

Hope to be able to welcome you back again in the near future,

With my best regards,

My husband and I just spent a night at the Rufflets while touring Scotland. The hotel itself is lovely, as was the room and amenities (they even leave complimentary homemade shortbread cookies in the room). We chose to dine at their restaurant when we noticed one of our favourite dishes on the menu: chateaubriand. When we first ordered it with bernaise sauce, we were told that they were out of bernaise. I found this quite surprising since it's so easy to make, but we chose the peppercorn sauce instead. The steak was cooked to our request (medium rare) but it was surprisingly a bit chewy and lacked in flavour. It's not that it was inedible, it just wasn't up to par for chateaubriand and certainly not for the price. Probably the most surprising part of the evening was when one of the servers asked us if everything was ok, and we told her how we felt, she just said ok and walked away. Nobody else came to our table to ask anything else about it. I would have expected the maitre D to have at least come over to us to get more info.

Dear Catherine

Many thanks for the kind feedback - good to see that for the most part, the stay was a very good one. I am however really sorry about the issues with the Chateaubriand. We do appreciate the comments, and I have already discussed the matter with my Chef and his team. And I also would have expected the Restaurant Manager to come and talk to you at the time - an important aspect of what we do, and should have been dealt with better.

With my best wishes,
