Visited a relative in Glasgow with my wife on Friday 22nd June 2018, and afterwards we decided to spend the remainder of the day in Glasgow.
We were recommended to park in Shields Road Park & Ride and get a Glasgow Subway return ticket each from there, and that is exactly what we did. (One return ticket was included in the price of parking the car, and the other had to be purchased). Overall, It proved to be cost effective.
We have visited Glasgow many, many times but this was the first time either of us had ever used the Glasgow Subway.
The size and scale of it all was smaller than what we had envisaged it to be, but this in no way deterred from our enjoyment. There are 2 lines - an outer circle running clockwise, and an inner circle running anticlockwise. 15 stations make up the Glasgow Subway.
We thought it was convenient, quick, clean, and a novelty.

I sing this wee chorus to my Grandchildren, I took them along with their Great Granny on the underground from the Coocadens and they loved the whole experience, They had visited the exhibit of the underground at the transport museum and they were not disappointed in the real thing. A very happy 3 & 4 year old.

Used it for two days out of three and wished we had used it for all three. £4.10 all day ticket seems good value for most of the sites around the city itself. Often good signposts outside the stations showing you where attractions are and how long to walk there (e.g. kelvingrove museum, botanical gardens, etc.). One downside for some is that some stations we used did not seem to have a lift for people who could not use stairs....

Glasgow subway system is one of the oldest in the world, originally chain driven, it has been fully automated for years. Goes round in a circle and some people would be surprised to know that even although you cant see it on a circular trip - there is a route that the trains take at night to bring them back to the surface for cleaning and servicing. Very quick and cheap way to get from West End of Glasgow to City Centre and they run from early morning to late at night.

Recently revamped, the stations and platforms are wide, funky and modern. Two contra-rotating circular lines so no need to decipher complicated underground maps like London's Tube system or the U-bahn in Berlin. Fast efficeint cheap service serving all the major points in GLasgow radiating out from Buchanan Street west and downriver.
