Stayed here 12-13 Feb and thought it was a fantastic place. I love the fact that you walk into a pub first to find the reception. The staff were ultra helpful from the minute I arrived. The room was £40 (I didn't pay for breakfast so might be more than this) and the room was spot on. Great beds, towels, shower etc. The place has no disabled access, and is a little run down, but, despite that, I thought it was very good value for money and will stay here again.

Not a hotel review, but oub grub. Popped in here when my wife and I could not get a table at the nearby Drygate Brewing Company where we were attending a concert.. A quirky, music based, bar. A pint and a perfectly acceptable burger and basket of chips each for just over £20. Not an area of the town we are normally in, and not a lot of choice around, so bailed us out nicely.

Found this wee gem whilst walking around the Necropolis occupying the dog for a couple of hours whilst waiting for relative having outpatient appointment at Glasgow Royal Hospital. No public loo around here so ..... What a pleasure. Staff welcoming and my chicken Balmoral was good value supported by great coffee. Place was empty at 2pm but someone here loves music and should be good fun in the evening I guess. By the way the ladies loos were immaculate too. Next time up at the Royal Infirmary I'll be back for lunch.

Having visited the Necropolis we shifted across the road to the Cathedral House bar for some lunch. Really nice little music bar, great décor and atmosphere.
The food was excellent, priced reasonably and the service was first class.
Great Sunday morning.

A nice welcoming on arrival into the bar area, the manager was very helpful and friendly. We had a minor wait but nothing worth noting. The things worth noting was a squeaky bed when turning over which woke us up on most turns and a radiator that needed bleeding.
Maybe a gripe on the additional cost of a cooked breakfast but they are an independent hotel so I can understand. The continental breakfast was slightly underwhelming as it was Aldi/Lidl cereal bars and packed croissants/pastries. Toast was available on request which was sufficient.
The staff were very helpful and nice but we found the place lacked any atmosphere. No Sky Sports or BT Sports to show the football which may entice people from the area to pop in as the the nearest pub with sports on was a 15min walk away into the city centre. Little things but it may bring new costumers in. The views of the Necropolis was stunning and the area is nice. The hotel itself is a lovely building but we may decide to look elsewhere on next stay.
