We stayed for 2 nights in the Macduie chalet. It was adequate but not much more. The bulb from the fire didnt work so didnt have nice glow. I did report it but it didnt get fixed while we were there.Didnt really think it was value for money compared to some chalets we have stayed in previously elsewhere. The furniture was quite tired. On the plus side the position of the chalet was lovely with views over the river. There is an Inn only 200 yards away for food and drinks. About a 15 minute walk into Aviemore About 6 years ago we stayed at Pine Bank Chalets and loved our chalet hence our return visit, but unfortunately it was a bit disappointing this time.

We stayed at cedar lodge for just a couple of nights at the end of February. We couldn't have asked better accommodation, the lodge itself was fantastic. It had gorgeous finishes, was impeccably clean and had a fantastic rustic wooden smell as soon as you set foot in the door.
The location was also ideal very close to a great pub which had live folk music playing on some evenings and served fantastic food. Town was in walking distance for alternative places to eat and a Tesco for general supplies.
It was also only 15/20 mins from cairngorm mountain ski slops which was one of the main reasons for booking the trip. All in all, a truly enjoyable trip!

Extremely disappointing!

Where to start? So many faults with this accommodation! Despite website claiming this apartment was newly refurbished and renovated in December 2016, our stay mid February 2017 found this to mean covering cracks and poor quality DIY with paint & sadly the task of painting & decorating is sloppy at best. Drips on radiators, ill fitting wood & glass doors smeared with paint, failing to take radiators off to paint behind them properly. It's not just the paint which tries desperately to cover a multitude of DIY sins. Furniture cobbled together with ply wood, floorboards and edging by overzealous use of a nail gun. Pity the finishing of tasks is not something the handyman takes pride in. Underachieving to deliver on quality serving only to make the accommodation feel unwelcoming and dismal. In fact, this property felt more like a hostel despite paying higher end hotel prices.

Shed doors used as main door so any heat from underfloor heating in the entrance, escapes easily and readily. Thank goodness for the wood burner which warmed up the living room/kitchen area but poor ventilation served to make the room feel stuffy.

En suite shower drained away very slowly. Poor silicon edging, missing and broken tiles, shower door that doesn't shut properly (actually on that note, all doors in property were poor at closing properly). Won't be returning. Pictures on the website are deceptive. Up close the flaws are very visible and sadly there are many.

Hi

I am very sorry that you felt this way having staying with us and that our painting and decorating negatively effected your holiday to such an extent that you had to give us one star!

Clearly you can see that your view is not typical of our guests and everyone who has stayed since the apartment was refurbished has been extremely complimentary.

It is not new build and will never be perfect in the way new build is. It is a Victorian lodge so there are imperfections and we love the handmade rustic furniture both of which we feel gives this property its unique charm.

For Easter half term my family of three decided to try skiing on the Cairngorm. I chose Pine Bank Chalets after seeing their beautiful new Logcabin. Unfortunately it was already reserved so we booked the Cairngorm lodge, a four sleeper. We had a wonderful time here. We arrived quite late but our keys were waiting for us and easily accessible. The lodge was easy to find and we had our own private parking outside which was convenient. My first impression of the lodge was it was very clean, tidy and nice and warm. It was well stocked with everything we needed. My son stayed in a room with two single beds. He said they were comfortable enough. Our room had a double bed. Unfortunately it was very noisy and uncomfortable and we did not sleep very well. Also all the doors in the lodge were also very noisy which woke everyone up in the night if someone got up to use the bathroom. There were also no locks on our bedroom door which made privacy an issue. That being said we loved the lodge and the area. The lodge supplied us with good literature and gave us a good breakdown of all the activities in the area. We had a good two days skiing and snowboarding. We would definitely recommend Pine Bank Lodges to anyone staying in Aviemore or wanting to explore the area.

We have just returned from 3 nights at Pine Bank, staying in Bynack. We had a great time. Cabin was all we needed for 4 people (2 adults and 2 younger children). Kitchen well equipped. Cabin very warm, we did insist on lighting wood burner though! Great views. Close to Aviemore and Cairngorm, lucky enough to get to enjoy some snow left. Would return.
