We swapped our DVC points for a week here. Not up to DVC standard, a bit dated. In a good area in walking distance to Aviemore shops and restaurants. Nice walks at the back of the accommodations into woods. Beware the electric costs - we were told to put the water heater on and leave it on the whole time so we'd always have hot water. It's an immersion heater and as we used to have one at home I know how expensive they are. We just put the water heater on for an hour when we needed it - that was enough for 2 showers and to wash a sink full of pots. For just washing pots I used the kettle. Our electric bill was £13 for the week, and we had the heating on every night. Dread to think how much it would be if we'd left the water heater on all week!, The water tank is huge - its in the corner of the living room boxed in. There's no way you'd want that much hot water all the time. And the water is VERY hot. I nearly scalded myself washing pots the first time.
Dishwasher was useless - all plates dirty and the tablet didn't dissolve even though it got very hot. Didn't use it again. Lots of things supplied i.e. kitchen rolls, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, but only 2 toilet rolls! I did ask if we got more but was told they only provide them at the beginning of your stay. Never had to buy toilet rolls before at any self catering place we've stayed, even in a static caravan. Tesco is only 5 mins walk away though so not a big problem. Bedding not changed, but towels can be changed midweek if you request them.
We had 2 single beds and 2 bunk beds in the bedroom. Not ideal for a couple but we put up with it for a week. Not enough room if there were 4 of you. We just managed with 2 of us. Had to turn the dining table round as too big in the room and the nest of tables were also big for the room. 1 sofa and 1 wooden chair so 4 people wouldn't be able to sit comfortably to watch TV. Fridge is tiny - under the counter size with the freezer being a third of it.
Laundry is free if you're in an apartment - soap powder is supplied free too.
You have to strip the beds when you leave and leave linens in the hallway. You have to clear your rubbish and wash pots and put them away. We always do this anywhere we stay so not unusual for us.
We were kept busy the whole week with walks and trips to Loch Ness, Inverness and Elgin. Locals told us the skiiing season hadn't been great this year and although we could see snow on the mountains it wasn't a lot. Lots of the ski runs were closed. Good job we didn't go for the snow! There's lots to do and see around Aviemore even without the snow. We enjoyed our week here, the scenery is amazing.
