Our stay at the Morlich was good. Pleasant staff and the food was good. We did, however, go over to the main hotel for dinner during our stay. The food was amazing, but the service was not. There was a wait for drinks, as there was one girl behind the bar trying to service the full restaurant, lounge & clear & clean glasses. We were eating our starters when the waiter brought our main course - then stood behind us, waiting for us to finish eating - we felt very rushed, even though the restaurant was only half full. In the morning the breakfast buffet was lovely, however, on morning two there were no plates & it took some time to track down a member of staff to rectify this.
Enjoyable enough stay, but definate staffing & training issues.

Beware of Breakfast at the Weekend

This is advertised as 'perfect for couples looking for a romantic break', but they forget to tell you that you will be joined for breakfast by every family from the cabins (and there are a LOT of cabins).

Not very romantic at all: noisy, queues out the door and not Covid-safe in any way.  Never seen anything like it !  We fled back to the safety of our room ...

Although they appear to have enough staff, the restaurant and hotel reception area are just not big enough for the number of people.  However, the situation could be completely avoided with better planning.

It would seem that this resort is trying to make economies at the expense of its guests.

If you can put up with all that, then it's a lovely hotel with nice rooms and comfortable beds.  All the staff we met were lovely too and trying their best in very difficult circumstances.

Will not be staying there again, despite being a long time Macdonald Hotel customer, as the management did not seem keen to change anything.

After a lot of pushing we may be getting the cost of breakfast refunded, but it really should be the whole amount as it thoroughly spoiled our stay.

Expected better.

Room tip: Avoid weekends or go to breakfast really early

We stayed here last year and enjoyed it, so looked forward to our return. The room was nice and clean, staff pleasant and an easy walk into town. We had our evening meal in the Aspects restaraunt and the food was good. When we went to breakfast in the morning, we were surprised to find that it was self serve buffet with everyone using the same utensils to get their food. This is not Covid secure! We also mentioned last year that they needed hand sanitiser by the lifts as they are common touch points, but there is still none there. It is a good place to stay but they need to review their covid measures. We are currently staying at another Macdonald hotel in a different part of Scotland and they do not have their buffet open, it is table service.

Room was sufficient and the inclusive breakfast we very good. We used in in-hotel restaurants a couple of nights and the food was very standard and the service was comical.

I had issued checking out and subsequently have been overcharged after leaving without authorisation. I’ve contacted the hotel via phone and email many times and it hasn’t been resolved and has now gone into dispute with AMEX.

Stay was ok, wouldn’t use this hotel again.

The hotel check in was efficient, food very good, albeit with both restaurants we were in and out in under an hour (2 courses). It is pretty much out the moment you order. Staff are very nice. We were looking for a nice hotel for a wee break however the place is like a creche. Screaming toddlers everywhere and you retreat to your tiny room to have a glass of wine but there is one seat and lots of banging doors - all night. Bathroom tatty. They need to redo the sealant and clean the doors which were yellow. If you take away the screaming kids and banging doors it is a fairly decent hotel. We paid nearly £600 for three nights DB&B and I would rather pay a smaller hotel for some peace and quiet. Apart from that it is within walking distance to the centre of Aviemore and a short drive to lovely walks too. ps to the parents of all the screaming children you let run around as if it was your home. you screaming SHOOSH was more annoying than your screaming children. Next time just lift said child up and remove from the Restaurant. You are not the ONLY ONE in the hotel. Some people zero consideration. It's become the new Coylumbridge. Toddler central !!

Room tip: Every floor has banging doors !
