Many B & Bs on the West Highland Way stopovers seem travel-weary; they've switched the bathroom glasses to plastic cups, the room smells musty, and the "tea tray" is a few bags of Tetley. After two nights of such lodgings, my daughter and I were delighted to arrive, tired and thirsty, at the Rhu Mhor and have the mistress of the house serve us tea and cookies in the living room! We loved our room with a view of the harbor, founds lots of great books on the shelves, and enjoyed being served breakfast by the proprietor in his kilt! The food was wonderful - homemade scones and all. The lounge was warm and cozy and tea and cookies are happily served to anyone around and interested at 10 PM.

Ian and his elderly mother were extremely welcoming hosts. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and take care of our requests. They even provided laundry service for five pounds a load. We had a spotlessly clean, relatively large bathroom en suite. A generous full hot or cold breakfast was provided in the dining room each morning and tea, coffee, and hot cocoa, along with cookies, were available in our room. Their home was a convenient walk to the main tourist street with most of the pubs, restaurants and shops, but nice and quiet at night.

Have been going here for 18 years & a trip to Fort William wouldn't be the same staying anywhere else, Ian is such a great host, mum too. It;s a beautuiful house with great views over the loch and surrounding area. Breakfast is always a treat.

Our group of eight stayed here on the last night of our trans-Scotland walk, and it was a very fine way to end our tour.

Rhu Moor is a charming, old, but very well maintained house with lovely gardens. It is perhaps a bit "old fashioned" but definitely in a quiet and welcoming kind of way.

The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Fort William. Breakfast was excellent, and served by our host Ian in a kilt no less!

Certainly a great place to stay if you are in Fort William...

Room Tip: Room 2 was spacious and had a lovely view.

This is a beautiful old house and although it has quite a few steps up to the front of the property there is a driveway at the rear. It is also only a couple of minutes walk into Fort William Town Centre.

The room was very comfortable with a great shower, and the breakfast fabulous - Ian served breakfast in his kilt and had us all laughing with his wonderful sense of humour.

Would definitely stay there on my next visit.
