Yep - title sums it up pretty well - and what more does one need? Reception area has a water wheel - no longer working very sad to see. Reception and bar are constructed over the small leat that drove the water wheel in years gone by. There were a couple of openings in the bar where you could see the water passing under the reinforced glass in the floor - and another in the reception. (Personally I think they missed an opportunity... I would have loved to sit at a table located over one of these openings without the glass... I'm getting on a bit and after a couple of pints I start making frequent trips to the little boys room....)

Anyway - check-in was very pleasant and easy - and the room was easy to find. The hotel is an amalgamation of buildings - so 'interesting' to find your way around - but one just has to pay more attention than me to the wall signs and you will be fine....

Room was fine, spacious, comfy double bed, well appointed bathroom good size flat tv.

Location is great. JUST off the city center (meters only) and on a quiet road - very little passing traffic. Parking available. I stayed 2 nights and will stay again. Oh - super breakfast - lovely sausages!! Enjoy.

Great wee hotel in city centre perfect base for exploring the sights .Friendly staff both in reception and bar . Bar and restaurant were very well laid out and quite quirky. Good wheelchair access and layout is wheelchair friendly

Room Tip: upper floor to elimate noise from functions

Stayed here several times over the past 10 years both as a mercure and a ramada. It's been 3 years since our last stay. We stayed2 nights in the best superior room. Sadly this hotel has had no investment in furnishings or decoration in many a long year, and now it can't be hidden. A very dated tired hotel, in a good location. Soundproofing is non existent not only are the floors very creaky and noisy, not only can you hear tv sound from other rooms, I could even hear snoring. Our room was attended by house keeping after day one, bed was made, no fresh towels, no clean cups, no emptied bin, no coffee no tea etc. This was sorted after calling reception. No hairdryer, then supplied with a broken hairdryer then eventually one that worked. Parking is free. I won't be staying again, and I don't recommend this hotel in its current state.
