This family run hotel gives good value. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff helpful, friendly and efficient. A good varied restaurant menu is available both in the restaurant and bar and the early evening prices are very, very reasonable. A friend recommended it to us and we shall be pleased to recommend it to others. Car parking is available but non residents using the popular bar and restaurant fill the spaces at times, however street parking is not a problem. It is a fairly long walk to the town centre but no hills

Room Tip: No lift and a lot of stairs to some rooms

Nowhere is perfect but what I like is the staff, the food and the rooms. Rooms are well supplied with tea, coffee etc. and have bottled water and drinking glasses, The food was really good with an excellent selection of good value early diners menu This hotel has character and the rooms feel like you're staying with a friend or relative, not the boring impersonal corporate look.
What I'm not so keen on is noisy plumbing. no blackout binds, and breakfast starting at 7.30.Most paces I stay begin serving at 6.30 or 6.45.

Room Tip: All rooms I've stayed in have been fine.

I love the Chestnuts Hotel in Ayr and the food and real ale are exceptional.
For over 40 years i have been going to this hotel to eat on a regular basis and would firstly like to give the chef 5 stars for his excellent curries which are better than any Indian restuarant in AYRSHIRE as i have tried them all.
The staff are very well trained and make you feel very welcome.
To the owners all i have to say is keep up the good work
Thank you for all the good times and look forward to more.

We had booked a table for 12 people to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. The menu had a very large choice. There was plenty to choose from. The service was very quick and staff were very attentive. The food was amazing. Very tasty and very well presented. The staff were all very nice and friendly who all appeared very happy in their job. Only one draw back to the place was the small stones( chuckies) that covered the carpark. It made pushing a wheelchair very difficult. This problem was solved for me as a young very friendly male member of staff came out to help and he pushed the wheelchair for me to the ramp to enter the building. Thank you to everyone for a very enjoyable evening. We highly recommend this hotel.
