Very unusual and multinational place, bar staff are all from different countries and and bar atmosphere is very chilled out. Absolutely must visit,Anton the owner knows everything about alcohol he serves!

Thank Ana C

From a beer view this is a great place to go in Cork with draft and a huge bottled range. It isn't the kind of place you would really take a date perhaps you could call it rough and ready. They don't do food, but annoying after we asked if they did food, they said so left there had food elsewhere then came back there another customer (who appeared to be well known to them) brought a take away pizza to eat in the bar.

One of my favourite pubs in Cork well worth a visit. Always has a great selection of beers on tap. The off licence downstairs is decent too.

Really good bar, the staff were friendly and helpful. Such a relaxed feeling with a home like atmosphere. Can't wait to come back and try a few more beers.

If you are looking for a nice drinking spot in Cork, slightly off St. Patrick St/Plunkett St.'s beaten track, this might be what you're looking for. Located in Devonshire St., very close to the Shandon area, the Abbott's Ale House was recommended by my tourist guide as a place allowing customers to choose from over 300 options in the ground-floor shop. I went on 30 August 2017 and went upstairs to the bar. Do not expect the place to be luxurious or necessarily tourist-oriented. Rather, it seems to offer a genuinely Corkonian experience. The guy at the counter was very friendly, and as I asked him about the beers he served, he actually poured some in a glass to get me to taste it. I eventually had a lager from a local brewery (Abbott's Lager), which I thoroughly enjoyed. If I'm back in Cork, I'll definitely pop down there again and taste something else.
