We loved our stay at this charming B&B located on a working farm about 5 min outside the town center. The rooms and the food was great but it was Theresa who made our stay so memorable. She is by far the kindest friendliest hostess we have ever encountered. We only made reservations for one night but on our next trip to Ireland we are already planning on a much longer stay.

I called Ard na Breatha back in February to book a room and Theresa was so friendly and chatty. Coming from a farming community it is important to us to support others diversifying and we're in awe at how Theresa and Albert manage to combine farming and hospitality to such a high level.
When we arrived Theresa greeted us warmly and, despite probably being very busy, stuck around to chat before showing us to our room and telling us that, as we had booked a longer stay and she knew we were interested in the outdoors, she had put us in a family room to give us more space for our equipment.
The room had wonderful, non-creaky, solid wood floors and the bathroom was thoughtfully equipped with things such as a jar of cotton wool, spare flannels, shower caps and shower gels which we would only have expected from much more expensive establishments.
The guest lounge with its stove, piano, chaise longue, deep sofas and honesty bar was a lovely retreat from some shocking (even by Donegal standards!) weather!
Breakfast here was a real treat - an array of fruit juices, cereals and muesli with fresh fruit salad and dishes of nuts and seeds, followed by some great cooked menu choices all beautifully served in a manner befitting a big hotel. Add to that lovely Irish smoked salmon and local eggs, classical music in the background and big windows in a beamed and spacious dining room and it could have been hard to get going with the rest of your day.
Ard na Breatha is perfectly located for a short walk into town to eat out, with cheap and friendly taxis available if you don't fancy the uphill walk back but Theresa has worked out a lovely little walking route to avoid roads where possible.
The bed was a little lumpy (but I do blame a back injury earlier in the week which might not have helped!) but this could not detract from a fabulous B&B, a cut above most of the others, the friendly welcome and the easy sense of "home from home".
They're doing a fabulous job and deserve every ongoing success.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ard na Breatha B&B. It is located on a working farm with sheep grazing adjacent to the house. Its proximity to Donegal Town is great as you can easily walk to downtown in 10 - 15 minutes. Yet you are up and away from the hustle and bustle for a quiet rest. Our hostess, Theresa, was delightful! She was so attentive and took care of our every need with a smile. Our room was clean and comfortable, and there was a lovey common area for those of us who want to get up early and read without disturbing our partner. The breakfasts are delicious -- the locally sourced organic yogurt is outstanding! But Albert in the kitchen will prepare you a magnificent hot meal of eggs, salmon, French toast, etc. that is hard to beat. This B&B (unlike others we've stay at) also offers a nice honor bar for wine and beer. As an added bonus, Ard na Breatha provides a discount arrangement with a couple of fine restaurants in town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room upstairs toward the front that overlooks the valley.

Wonderfully quiet and beautiful location. Very comfortable room and extremely clean. Breakfast is great! I would suggest that you try the french toast, it was a good as any I have ever had. A nice 15 minute walk to great pubs, shops and restaurants.

It was an AWESOME!! experience staying here. If you want to get away to a peaceful, quiet and enchanting place, this is the place to go. The owners treat you like family. Theresa's breakfast is the BEST!. You enjoy the beautiful views, it is 15 min. away (walking) to the nearest town which by the way is very nice, restaurants, shopping. My family and I are definitely coming back!! We just LOVED IT!!
p.s. It is very clean, you can have some wine (and just leave a tip for a glass) :)
