This is an easy to follow, interactive exhibit that provides a good understanding of the Irish diaspora in about 2 hours. Its an interesting story, well told and well worth knowing. The setting, a redeveloped former warehouse, is also attractive.

A must do stop while you are in Dublin. You will learn and be entertained. Epic was also interesting and engaging for our four teen aged children.

I've been to a lot of museums around the world and this is unquestionably one of the best. What makes it great? Everything from the location to the exhibits, audio guide and staff. Each of the rooms of this museum recount the experiences of Irish emigres and their contributions to global culture. It's not always a happy story and the many rooms along the exhibit path tell a story of famine, unrest, joy, triumph, travel and much, much more.

I highly recommend forking over the extra €1 for the audio guide which introduces visitors to each room. Concise explanations introduce the room theme and then you're free to explore the interactive stations which make learning about Ireland's past stimulating and fun. Kids will love the cutting edge digital interaction and stamping their passports after visiting each room. It takes a couple of hour to see it all and afterwards there's a nice museum shop with plenty of books and t-shirts for furthering your knowledge or wearing Ireland on your sleeve. The warehouse also includes a bright food hall with dozens of tempting options.

Whether you're Irish or have absolutely no clue about the island's animated past you will ove EPIC. Enjoy the journey!

I enjoyed the museum, it is interactive and the idea of collecting your passport stamps as you go is a clever one.
If the origins of Irish history and the reasons around migration don’t interest you it’s not the place for you.
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Hi volleyqueenYork,

Thank you for visiting EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us!

One of our original aims with EPIC was to be a first port of call to international visitors to Ireland, to give them a general overview of Irish emigration to help them understand how Irish people have spread around the world, and how such a small island has had such a large impact and influence on the globe. We hope that after, upon leaving our museum, even those who did not arrive with an interest in Irish history leave with a desire to learn more about our beautiful Island and the history of its people.

Thank you for taking the time to review us, we really appreciate your feedback and recommendation.

Amelia,

EPIC provides a history of the Irish diaspora. If you have Irish heritage a visit to the Family History Center is well worth it.. We toured the museum in the morning and then had lunch in the food court. After lunch we met with a genealogist who assisted us in tracing our family history. Including lunch we spent approximately six hours at EPIC.
