Situated on the outskirts of busy Galway, the Harbour Hotel is in an ideal location, friendly staff contribute to the welcome and stay, however we visited when the day was damp and no sun, and the rooms were small, very warm and no air-conditioning, due to the proximity of the road it was not pleasant to open the windows. Such a shame for a relatively new hotel, not to have installed a/c from new.

Everyone told me it would be great in Galway so perhaps expectation was too high, we were a bit disappointed. No smiles, just efficiency, something we didn't experience yet. Oh well, not my favorite. Room was small and hot. Breakfast was good.

While the hotel offered what we needed, prices were elevated for a race in town so we didn't get our money's worth. Hotel sits on a busy road so there is a lot of road noise with the windows open as the room lacked air.

On the plus the location affords an easy five minute walk to Galway's "tourist district;" and we found the front desk helpful and the breakfast buffet quite nice. A concern might be a summer visit as there's no a/c (you typically really don't need it) but with open windows there is fairly noticeable street noise. We were there over a weekend with lots going on so the price may have a been a bit above average; but if the rate appears inviting this could provide a more than a acceptable overnight.
