Aileen and all of the staff made our stay at the Salt Hill Hotel memorable and enjoyable. We arrived from an overnight flight from Boston to Shannon and then drove on to Galway (somewhat stressed from driving on the other side of the road), exhausted and tense. Aileen went out of her way to provide rooms earlier than planned, graciously making us feel welcomed. The dining staff was exceptional as well! I cannot say enough about the wonderful people that make up the staff at this property!

The Salt Hill Hotel in Galway is a wonderful place to stay. The staff was excellent, took care of a last minute change in rooms for us without any problem, were incredible friendly and helpful. The room was in a perfect location with a view of the water.

We rang on a Saturday and got a room that had been cancelled by another guest. It was mentioned when we booked that it was over the function room and that 'some people can hear music.' We thought as heavy sleepers that we would be ok. Unfortunately not. We could hear a band faintly until about 12 and it didn't bother us. We could all sleep. Then a DJ started to play rave music (maniac 2000, Saturday night) at a much louder volume and also speaking/shouting into a microphone. We mentioned this to reception the following morning and later when we were in Galway city a staff member rang and offered us another room. We gladly accepted and mentioned we would be returning to the hotel at 3pm and could move our belongings then. She said that housekeeping needed the room before then and could they move our stuff for us. We said that was fine. When we returned to the hotel our new room was much better but we noticed that our teenage son's bag was missing. I mentioned this to a male dark haired receptionist at about 5 or 5:30p.m. He said he would get the bag sent to the room. By 9pm it still hadn't arrived and I rang reception. I described the bag (grey Nike sports bag) and told that I had seen it between the bed and the window in our first room that morning. A receptionist called me back 20 minutes later to say that housekeeping could not locate the bag and was it in our car? At this stage I began to get annoyed as our son needed this bag to get ready for bed. The next morning when checking out we asked again about the bag and asked could they check lost property. We explained that it's not about money as there was nothing valuable in the bag but we expected better from a 4 star hotel. The receptionist called the accommodation manager and after a 20 minute wait she appeared and said that she had looked for a black bag but no luck (the bag was grey). We were extremely angry at this stage that the hotel manager wasn't dealing with the situation and we told the receptionist and accommodation manager that we felt that they were being left to deal with this. The receptionist did offer to call the manager but we didn't see the point as we felt that the manager was purposely avoiding us (we had been at reception 20 minutes by now). We just wanted to get home. As we left I looked back and saw the accommodation manager smiling. We're at home now still minus a bag. Needless to say we haven't heard from management and that we won't be returning.

nice hotel but bar staff and waiting staff in bar food area lack direction and management. Over 20 mins it took to get my table cleaned and it happened all around me to other guests also and then to order food even I had to go to bad to try order to be told someone be down to you simple things would make all the difference
