The Western Hotel is ideally located in Galway city centre, and is only a short walk from the train station. The hotel staff were friendly on arrival, and check-in was quick; the room was very spacious and had everything we needed, although the shower was difficult to use, and the curtains did little to stop the early morning sunlight!
We availed of the opportunity to check out of our rooms at 2pm - two hours later than the usual checkout time - at a cost of an extra 20 euro (something we had inquired about while booking).
We enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Room Tip: Our room on the fourth floor had great views and no street sounds

Centrally located in Galway in old Georgian buildings converted into a hotel. Parking is not easy to find and limited, but the staff does try to move cars around so you can get in and out. Our family room was quite large and quiet, but the bathroom had no storage place to put toiletries or even to hang towels without them getting wet. We initially had no toilet paper, but the staff quickly took care of it. The downstairs bar is small but quiet and the dining room is very nice with a nice selection of warm and cold items for breakfast (may or may not be included with your booking). The hotel has a lot of character with narrow, uneven staircases and the small elevator is surprisingly quiet. We loved that local children were sitting on the stairs waiting to take violin lessons in one of the meeting rooms. The hotel is one block from the main square and bus station and the staff was very friendly and helpful. This may be standard for hotels in Ireland, but we found it interesting that the room key had to be put into a slot inside the door and left there in order to get any of the lights to work - including the bathroom.

This hotel was the exact right fit. In the city (about 5 minutes walk from Shop Street for a great night out) but away from all the noise and commotion at the weekend.
The room was quiet, clean, cosy and comfortable. It reminded me of my granny's room which isn't a bad thing at all. I loved it. Different from every other hotel that are all very samey (if that's a word)
Complimentary car parking was handy and very welcome. We've stayed at other hotels that charge a minimum of €10 per night.
The staff were lovely and friendly.
We got a fantastic deal of B&B for 2 nights with dinner included on one of the nights plus a bottle of house wine.
The starter of chicken wings were so tasty and a nice sized portion. I had chicken supreme for main and that also was delicious.
We will definitely stay again!

Called from the road to get directions. Wow, their staff gives terrible directions. Just by luck we found the place. Next day we headed out for some sightseeing and asked for directions how to get to the coast. Again, terrible and inaccurate directions. Luckily, the Irish roads are really well marked and we figured out how to exit the city center. Asked where to change money, front desk told us post office was best place. Walked to post office, they don't change dollars for euros, ever. The front desk staff seemed to be students and not really engaged or informed or properly trained. Rooms were ok, not great. Location is very convenient and breakfast, which costs 10 euros extra, was nice. Free parking was a bonus.

Reception area was tiny! Receptionist were unfriendly! Was booked into a suite which was off the hotel!! Had to go through the car park and up a narrow ramp that car had to enter and exit too! Then they wanted €250 extra on top of room charge! Crazy

Room Tip: Will never go back there again! They also under charged the other groups for there room! They had checked out! I was left with that too! Faulty Tower!

Dear Guest,

We are sorry to hear that you left us upset. We describe the location of our suites on all webpages that advertise our accommodation, so that everyone who is looking to book them can make a decision if it is suitable for their needs and condition so it is sad to hear that you have been surprised by this information upon your arrival. The same regarding the security deposit we require when passing the keys to our apartments or suites located outside the main hotel building. Again, we are sorry to hear that you missed this information while booking with us. We believe that if not for those two points that made you upset you would have had nice memories from your stay, as the Suites are spacious, modern, located centrally and usually appreciated by our guests.

We strive to provide our guests with only positive experiences, therefore I would like to apologise for the receptionist if you found her unfriendly. I can assure you it will be addressed immediately.

Kindest regards,
Joanna Majorek
