No regrets for booking the Western - it was mid-range price and that was reflected in the hotel being a bit tired - e.g. old furniture, shower over bath etc... But it was clean with free parking and is very well located just 2 mins from the edge of the pedestrian area. Breakfast was fine. We ate out dinner in the town so can't comment on that. Staff were friendly. No complaints - you get what you pay for.

We were two couples. We got the smaller room, which was dated but clean and functional. The bed was comfortable. No matter what I did it was impossible to position the shower curtain so that it kept all of the water in the shower. A couple of odd things...there are a series of "step up, step down"sections in the second floor hallway, and for some reason the heat was always on (high) in the hallway, even though it was not cool outside. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. If you're stopping here mid-trip as we did, there's a convenient drop-off laundry directly across the street, and just about everything else in Galway is convenient to the Western too.

Room Tip: I think there are quite q few different room sizes, it might pay to ask.

The hotel is in a great location, walkable to Eyre Square and all of the pubs and shops but outside of the busy part of town. The rooms were small, but that's pretty standard in Europe. The bathroom, however was surprisingly large and not typical of the tiny bathrooms you find elsewhere. The pub downstairs was fantastic and the staff/bar tenders were great!
If you stay here, be sure to visit Richardson's pub down the street as well. Fun, lively, and the best bartenders of our entire trip!

We had booked a twin room for a couple of nights and on arrival told we had been upgraded to an apartment around the corner. We were pleasantly surprised with our ground floor 2 bed apartment with kitchen, living room and small garden. Very comfortable and clean. We had a great stay.

A good location with free parking! A quaint pub that had free entertainment. All staff were very accommodating & friendly. A clean & well maintained establishment that we plan to visit again some day!
