Was heading up north and stayed in the hotel for one night. Requested a smoking room and was given same, went into same and did a u turn, right next to swimming pool and extractor fans, noisy, went down to reception and reqested non smoking room much better. Had meal in the Hotel Bar, it was very good and enjoed it. Hotel staff friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Grand for one night.

Room Tip: do not request a smoking room.!!!!!!!!!! We were on the first floor and would say rooms could be more soundproofed

Just back from a very pleasant overnight stay in the Four Seasons. It's a huge hotel with a lovely driveway up to it, and there's loads of free parking, which is a great bonus.Check-in was very quick. Our room, which was at the back of the hotel, was clean and comfortable and looked out on a very nice landscaped garden. They really have gone to great lengths to ensure there are colourful shrubs planted around the place and the lawns were in great condition. The room was clean and tidy and had a very big comfortable bed. Had a great sleep and not a sound was to be heard anywhere. Breakfast was standard buffet fare, but on arrival at the breakfast room there was a sign "Please wait to be seated". There was nobody there to seat us (or the many other people arriving) so it was a bit of a free for all, with some guests actually going in behind the counter to serve themselves a hot breakfast. It later transpired that the waitress who was on duty in the breakfast room had been called away for some reason. Having two people on duty in the breakfast room from first thing when breakfast starts, would have made such a difference, particularly as a large group had booked in the previous evening and it was obvious they'd need breakfast in the morning. There were eventually two staff on duty, but this was when most people were already seated. However, this was the only downside - otherwise everything was great and the staff pleasant. Check-out was as quick as check-in, so no complaints there. Would stay in the Four Seasons again, we were very pleased with it.

We honeymooned at this exquisite hotel. We were made to feel soo special . Our room was beautiful and the meals were exceptional.Monaghan s surrounding country side has a huge amount to offer so do explore the friendly helpful will be glad to guide you. They have massive hand blown glass chilies hanging from the ceiling in the dining room where we marvelled at their beauty as we quafed penfolds koonanga hill red wine . What a total treat you ll love it . Enjoy.

I called to book the Avenue restaurant for mothers day for 8 people. The receptionist informed me it was closed and they were taking bookings in a restaurant in the main hotel ,i then asked about location of the restaurant as my mum recently broke her leg and was in a wheel chair and my husband is on crutches. She assured me it was on ground floor, I then asked about menu and also if it was a carvery as we did not want a carvery for practicle reasons of having to que and carry each others plates also ,It was a special occasion and we all choose the Avenue as we had been there previously for mothers days and knew the food was excellant and service fantastic.
So when we arrived we were very dissapointed. The restaurant was a wedding venue room it was very bright it also had a dance floor in middle and no ambiance at all.I then saw along carvery table !!!!!!!!
I spoke to the staff and told them i specifically didnt book a carvery and u must be mistaken as my reservation was for a restaurant. The staff wasnt rude but neither helpful.A lady informed me the menu changed after my booking.
The Starter was served to the table and most of us had the vegatable soup which was watery with a few piecies of carrot floating about in it,it really was not great .Main course was carvery and just ok vegatables were a little cold on the plus side a lovely waiter helped my mum with her food (dark haired gent about 40-50 yrs we recognised him from working previously in the Avenue Restaurant) .it was just dissapointing really.
After dinner we had a few drinks in the bar which was also serving carvery which looked great and a fraction of the price we had just paid, the bar had a great atmosphere and was very cosy.We asked the barman why the Avenue restaurant was closed ?he told us it wasnt and that it was just closed for that day .
Im not sure if we will visit this hotel again or The Avenue restaurant as i felt they were trying to maximise there profits on that day and were economical with the truth when taking my booking.Truely disapointing
