“I took my friend for afternoon tea and it was mostly really lovely. Given that we are experts at afternoon tea as we have tried almost all of the local outlets who provide it ( and further afield). The sandwiches were some of the best we have had the bread was fresh and the fillings delicious, the scones, jam and cream were also fresh and generous, the cakes were a bit of a disappointment the presentation was good but one was a chocolate shape filled with a sour berry filling and a foam on top, this had leaked and the the macarons ( which were delightful) were all soggy and they collapsed. There was a tangerine mousse type square ( a bit difficult to eat but tasted nice ) and around shortcake biscuit with a topping which was tasteless and we couldn’t identify what it was. not exactly afternoon tea cakes. It would have been nice to have a finger of fruit cake and an eclair or almond slice or fancy of some kind. Just nothing as messy to eat.
Although the sandwiches and scones were home made I think the cakes were just assembled when needed, which let it down. Over all a very nice presentation and staff were lovely… just a shame about the cakes.More
