This has become our "must visit" destination when in Manchester. The decor and surroundings aren't the best but the food and service more than make up for it. On every visit, as westerners, we've been out numbered 20-1 by Chinese diners, always a good indication of quality authentic food.
The menu is an adventure in its own right, thankfully the friendly staff are always wiling to explain or offer advice. Everything we have sampled has been delicious but don't expect the offerings of the average takeaway, these are not dishes developed for the English. If you're feeling really adventurous, try the hotpot and you can cook various oddities at your table.

We were looking for a Chinese restaurant while out in Manchester and the reviews for Hunan convinced us to try it. I'm just sad I've not been able to go back yet! The food is very different from your usual Chinese restaurant and I'm told this is because it's authentic-style food from Hunan province in China, rather than the westernised mainly Cantonese food you get in most Chinese restaurants. In that case I'm impressed with Hunan ;)

The food was exquisite and utterly delicious and the staff were very friendly and bagged up all our leftovers at the end. The food was really reasonably priced and the leftovers fed us for about two days, and we didn't leave feeling hungry on the night either. The only thing I wish is that the waitress told us that the dishes we ordered were meant for about two people each, meaning we ordered enough to feed four people without realising it! I didn't regret it though. Despite ordering all this we didn't spend that much money so it was very good value. Looking forward to coming back.

This is a very real Chinese Restaurant
With an extensive and fascinating menu
European tastes are catered for but we were more interested in the more unusual dishes on offer.
Rabbit meat /Pigs Trotters /Beef intestines /
Vegetarian options Chilli Cauliflower
was a favourite with our group .
Its good to go with a few friends and share. The duck and pancakes were very good standard but large portions which would have prevented us from sampling the many other delicacies.
Crab in chilli sauce and other sea food delights
Inexpensive wine was good.We all stayed with white. Service was excellent efficient and attentive
I highly recommend this place especially for the adventurous
The restaurant was full as it was Sunday
afternoon a popular time.
We were the only table of customers who were not Chinese.
Recomendation for the authenticity.
All of our friends will be returning

Very busy restaurant
Full of chatter and lovely food smells.
Most tables were full with Chinese customers so looking around could view many of the food choices available.
Excellent menu...very difficult choices.
Staff all very friendly helpful and very efficient.
Baby pork ribs with Kelp.....mmmm
Whole crab with chilli and garlic sauce
amazing. Food here for many different palates. House wine white at less than £15 was exceptional.
Couldn't fault this place .I would advise a sense of adventure when ordering there will be plenty you haven't experienced before. Not for a western palate
