It is always a treat to find a South Asian restaurant which doesn't conform to the stereotypical Indian restaurant menu choices and an even bigger one when the food on offer is as good as this.
We had puri, the lentil and onion bhaji with tamarind sauce and the scallops to start. All were excellent. The mains - methi murgh and gobi manchurian - were a considerable cut above "normal" curry house offerings, too.
All dishes were presented elegantly and unfussily, the wine list was nice and reasonably priced and the staff were excellent: friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Many restaurants have opened and folded in these premises on the "wrong side" of the lapwing lane boundary but this one genuinely deserves to succeed: excellent!
