In our five days in Amboise, we ate at several of the restaurants along the tourist strip at the base of Chateau Amboise, and this was the best, a little more upscale than the others, with quality food. I had a melon and prosciutto plate with balsamic vinegar, and a hangar steak with Bernaise sauce, potatoes dauphinoise and some puréed vegetables, and my husband had duck and other meat pate with a salad, and chicken with a tomato-based sauce and noodles. My dinner came with a cheese plate, and the waiter offered great suggestions for selections. For dessert, we shared rice pudding with caramel and a plum cloufouti, which was out of this world. After a lot of average fare, we enjoyed a dinner that was much more than average.

We felt a bit young (early thirties) in this restaurant. Food is definitely ok! A pitty chez Bruno was full. Much more vibrant there.

We were in the area, and decided to have something light, and found this very typical French restaurant. My husband had a fish soup, delicious, and I had the dozen escargots. Both were very good, and if it had not been we had a reservation to dine at 8 PM and didn't want to eat a lot, we would have tasted the very delicious foods we saw other people eating. If you are visiting the Chateau de Amboise, we can recommend this special place. The only problem is that if it gets filled, there is a long wait for attention even for a small meal. Traditional French cuisine.

Not going to say much as the food here is it's own best advocate. Simply a taste experience not to be missed!

We were pleasantly surprised by our delicious dinner here! The restaurant is on a busy, touristy thoroughfare, right across from the castle walls, but we called around 6pm for a 9pm reservation and were able to make it without a problem. They reserved a nice table for use on the terrace. The waitress/proprietor could not have been more pleasant. The food was well-seasoned and delicious - modern takes on French classics. I had the foie gras, scallops as a main and creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was bursting with flavor and fresh. The cheese course was well-curated by our waitress as were the wine selections. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced as well. We were very happy with our meal here!
