Having just flown in from the US on an early flight and then driving to Fontainebleau, we were so lucky we chose to stay at the Aigle Noir. We arrived to a clean, beautiful lobby and a friendly face greeting us. Orane greeted us and with my terrible French, her English was a welcome sound. She let us check in early (so appreciated as we were jetlagged), helped us with directions to the Chateau and even made dinner suggestions and reservations for us.
This hotel was a great experience; from the help in making a Michelin star restaurant reservation, to Mrs. Scott who spoke lovely English, to our comfortable room, and ht perfect location for the Chateau and restaurants ad shopping. It was great to have them be so helpful and try so hard to make our stay great.
The room was spacious, clean and quiet. The TV had BBC so we could catch up on the news, which was important at the time.
The breakfast downstairs was of of the best appointed rooms and breakfasts we had on our whole trip. They catered to different palates and people. Huge variety and nice service.
There is a fireplace sitting room off the lobby. We had a drink there one night and the host was kind enough to tell us about another nearby castle. He even left us a pamphlet for the Chateau and information at the front desk. Alexandre want beyond-beyond to help us.

The price was very reasonable and we would go back in a second!

We stayed two nights and caught up on jet lag and had wonderful food and enjoyed the Chateau immensely. I highly recommend Aigle Noir.

This hotel is in a perfect location for a visit to the chateau -- literally across the street. Rooms are a bit small and highly variable. However, the staff deserves a five-star rating its helpfulness and cheerful going the extra mile. The resident lounge with its honor bar is a very nice touch. Property is very well-maintained, with exceptional bathrooms and extremely clean. Underground parking is a huge plus, as well as the number of restaurants and stores within easy walking distance.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the 01-09 series on each floor; the ones higher than "10" are much smaller, although they have very large bathrooms.

The Aigle Noir hotel was a wonderful surprise, the reception spacial and clad in marble with immediate welcome and assistance to our room, all fresh and clean and good en suite facilities. Inclusive breakfast a very high standard with everything one could wish for. The hotel is situated in the most perfect position for everything one would expect to see, The Chateau Fontainebleau, just two minutes down the road on foot, huge market round another corner, gardens, castle, antiques and shops all in easy walking distance and best of all, the hotel is surrounded by great cafes and restaurants on a paved boulevard. Excellent underground parking available supplemented by the hotel. You'll love it.

If you are visiting the chateau, this is a good choice. The parking is in a public underground park that is safe, clean and very convenient ( with an elevator). The rooms are large , well decorated and there are glimpses of the former even more luxurious history of the hotel.

Its location is walking distance to the chateau and close to good restaurants in the center of town.

Although this hotel is centrally located we were disappointed with the room and ambience of the hotel. Specifically the rooms are poorly decorated with padded walls, poor lighting, old carpet and few mirrors. We would not recommend this facility for vacations
