“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

My mum and I stayed here for three nights and we had an absolutely delightful stay. Yes, the hotel room was small, but perfectly formed! It was perfect for what we needed, as we were hardly there, except to sleep, wash etc. The decor is beautiful, the shower was stunning. The staff were polite and helpful, and we enjoyed some relaxing coffees in the foyer. Would definitely recommend and return!

We stayed here for 3 nights in February in a superior room.

There are many plus points to this hotel but a few annoyances detract from its overall score.

Location is great, about a five minute walk to Luxembourg RER station and if you are a keen walker many tourist sites such as Notre Dame, Louvre, Palais Royale are within 15-30 minutes away. The hotel is on a fairly quiet part of the street so there is not too much noise. The staff all speak English and were helpful. They ordered a taxi for us several times and it arrived in less than 5 minutes. There is free tea and coffee in the lobby and overall the decor is colourful and modern.

We had a superior room which was pretty small. The gap between the TV and the end of the bed was such that I was worried I would knock the TV off the wall when squeezing passed. We only brought one suitcase between us so had enough wardrobe space but it would be a struggle for 2 suitcases. The bed was very comfortable and large but the pillows were too soft for my liking. The reading lights are very good though.

We didn't have a bath just a large shower which was excellent. The rain shower is fantastic and the water was always lovely and hot. My only gripe is that there is no heating in the bathroom and we were there during some very cold weather so this was not ideal and detracted from the lovely shower experience. Another annoyance is that there is not really any space or shelves to put toiletries. The one small shelf is used to put the towels on but if you move them there is nowhere to put them other than the floor. The toilet is also in a room separate from the bathroom and the door didn't lock though there was a note warning us of this.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as it is 12 euro per person for a continental breakfast. There are plenty of places around where you can eat for way less than that. They do room service but only cold dishes even for the main course?! I'm not sure why this is.

Overall, there are some great things about this hotel but I am not sure if the price is justified for the level of comfort it provides.

A beautiful and charming little hotel with perfect location in Paris. It´s walking distance to all kinds of shops and restaurants, both expensive and more affordable (Boulevard St. Germain / St. Michel / rue de Rennes). It´s also walking distance to some of the major attractions and close to the metro which takes you wherever you want in Paris. The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful. Be aware that the hotel is small, but it is part of the hotel experience at this charming place. The interior design is of the highest quality. No doubt about where to stay next time I'm going to Paris.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. Our room was on the main floor. My main complaint is my room's window that faced the courtyard area, which is also connected to the lounge/dinning area. We did not feel comfortable opening the window as there was no privacy. People enjoying a drink in the lounge was only a few meters away in plain view. The bathroom was basic. There was a rain drop shower head separated only by a shower curtain. Most of the bathroom floor was wet post showers due to the lack of structure to contain the water. The only surface besides the toilet and sink area was a small wall mount shelve above the toilet. Twice we asked for a room change but it was denied. The furniture was very beautiful, however the overall layout of this room provided no comfort. I don't remember the room number but it may have been 1.

After agonising over a huge list of potential hotels we opted for the Petit Paris largely based on the excellent Trip Advisor reviews. I can see why so many reviewers have scored this hotel so highly. However I can also share some of the views of Ctephen - and for me 5/5 should be saved for only the very best - unfortunately for me Petit Paris, although very good, fell just a little short of outstanding.

Firstly I should say this was our first stay in Paris so have nothing to compare to, but I agree that the rooms are small compared to what we have been used to in other destinations. We stayed in a superior room and just managed to get by, but I could imagine travellers with a suitcase each might quickly find room hard to come by. So tip one would be to travel with only one large suitcase if possible, to save on space. I would struggle to imagine how small the standard room would have been.

On the plus side the decor of the room was lovely. It was spotless, modern and tasteful. Basically the images on the hotel website were exactly as the room itself so if you like what you see then you should not be disappointed. (our room was the red decor)

The real highlight was the bathroom - great design (you could shower in the dark if you wished as small lights within the tiling and on the shower head provided subtle lighting effect). L'occitane products were also a great touch.

Unfortuntely the shower glass guard was not properly sealed so water dripped off the side of the bath and soaked the floor. Not disaterous but inconvenient having to put towels on the floor when showering which were then too wet to use.

The other small gripe was the bed. At first sight it looked huge and was very comfortable. But it soon became clear rather than a king size it was two twins pushed together. And that meant as the night went on myself and my partner found ourselves sliding into the middle, which wasn't the most comfortable. The pillows were also way too soft for our taste.

Other highlights were the reception area, very wecoming, tastefully designed, and also free internet usage came in handy. Real classy / boutique style. Complimentary tea and coffee also a lovely touch.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you. Spoke great english and gave good recommendations.

Location wise its a two minute walk to the nearest RER (train station) and about 10 - 15 minute walk to the Seine / Notre Dame. We walked to the Louvre in about 30 mins. Unfortunately the weather was unbearabley cold so we didn't walk as much as we otherwise would, but definitely think in warmer weather you could reach just about any of the main attractions on foot, perhaps apart from the likes of Sacre Coeur.

Room Tip: The pillows are very feathery, which my girlfriend is allergic to - any asthma / hayfever sufferers...
