Owner description: This beautiful museum, once a railroad station, now houses a staggering collection of Impressionist art, as well as other items created between 1848 and 1914. In 2011, the museum is running a renovation of the top floor (impressionist gallery). Only ground and medium floor are accessible. The top floor will re-open on the 20th of October. Meanwhile, some impressionist masterpieces are not visible.

I would recommend going straight to the 5th floor first. See all the paintings by Monet. I found two I really gravitated toward by Monet that I'd never seen/heard of.

On the same floor, the one with the statues, there is a room with photographs as art. These photographs are mostly nudes shot back when photography was a newer invention.

Be sure to check out the large clocks from the inside on the 5th floor as well. Not meant to be art, just a remnant of the old train station, but are a big draw.

I'm the type of person who can't spend very long in a museum, so if you're like me and 45 min is good enough for you, hit the 5th floor and leave on a high note.

Strikingly beautiful on the inside and out. Great use of space. Loaded with some of the most impressive art of the last few centuries, especially. No pictures allowed, unfortunately.

I loved the setting, the art and the way it was displayed. The museum is spacious and not crowded at all.

You can't give the d'orsay a bad review. It is beautiful in every way...except that it is over crowded and poorly laid out. We had advance tickets. This really doesn't matter. The line was just as long as the line for people to purchase tickets. There were limited services inside. Just getting water took 30 minutes and then we were confined to a small area where we had to stand and gulp it down. I would have loved to stay longer to see more pieces but this is not a relaxing museum. That being said, the collection is obviously amazing and the building is gorgeous. There just needs to be a greater control on tickets and more places to sit and rest so you can see it all.

The building itself is amazing, reengineered from empire train station, pay attention while on steps altho its hard not to be distracted. Period rooms are amazing. Nooks and crannies hiding choice pieces of art, not always where the lines are. gawk.
