If you love art you should go to the Louvre. I saw a lot of people complaining about the a will have huge amount of people.
We went there in the morning as it opened. Yes there was a line already, but only for the security. I found the ticket purchases nice and quick. The best part was of course that I could even go for free as I'm from EU under 26!
The place is huge and so beatiful..if you are not really that much into art the building itself will impress you.
So many beatiful works of art! not just the Mona Lisa..take your time..walk around, there is so much to see-paintings, sculptures etc.
The map was a bit hard to read but in the end we managed to see what we wanted to see.
Plan in advance-Big crowds so be well before opening times, choose the hottest day as that way you will be inside out if the sun. Better take some food with you, there are places outside of the exhibition where to sit and eat.

Really, unless you are a lover of the arts there are only two items of any interest to those with no such interest (in my opinion). Sighting the statue of Venus de Milo and the Mino Lisa. The latter being a disappointment as, after fighting your way to the front of the crowd only to find you are some 20 metres away from painting, which is also protected by a glass screen, the painting looks about postage stamp size. Sorry I bothered.

The museum houses a massive collection of art pieces, so make sure you check and find the ones for your interest before walking in. The web site of museum has its application where you can find the description of top pieces. The cafe at the bottom floor is nice for a coffee and quick bite.

Visited in early June. Weather was very hot and humid. Tourists crowded everywhere in and near the Louvre. The museum is a masterpiece. I wish we could have spent more time actually viewing the art, but the crowds were so thick that we could hardly see anything major. Artwork is tastefully displayed. Several displays were closed for renovation. Get your ticket ahead of time, and breeze through the entry line. Even though Paris is known to have a paucity of public bathrooms, they were pathetic here. Millions of visitors annually, and the biggest bathroom we found was 4 stalls.....lines were always 15-25 minutes, and the stalls weren't always clean. Plan accordingly. There are two restaurants in the lobby - one quick service, the other sit down. The quick service was very busy - again, plain ahead. The biggest criticism I had was the lack of places to sit. Even to admire the art....there were very few benches or chairs. And for an older lady, that was a problem. An enjoyable experience. Next time, I won't go in tourist season, though. It was too crowded to be able to enjoy.
