While waiting for our rooms to be prepared we wandered the local area and came across the magnificent Catholic church. The main entrance is currently under restoration and therefore covered in construction hoarding. Dont let this stop you. The high vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows are brilliant and as we were lucky to be at the church during a mass we had the good fortune to hear the pipe organ in all its glory as well as the ringing of the main bells.

Staying in the Astor Saint Honore Hotel just two short blocks from Place Saint-Augustin, we found ourselves walking through the square with its many streets criss-crossing many times. And each time, I admired the church on the square's northern edge. By Paris (or European) standards, it is not a very old church; but between the lovely exterior stone carvings, and the black pollution that is already obscuring some of those carvings, it looks like it could be much older. I would love to see what it looks like cleaned up.

Also known as Eglise Saint-Augustin. A beautiful and historic church. I happened to be in the area and at first didn't know which church it was. The exterior although quite dirty or maybe just looking old, is beautiful. The architecture is simple stunning. Not a normal tourist spot and I think I saw no other tourists here. Located in the 8th arrondissement which is considered to be a quite wealthy area is sort of worth seeing as it is quite different than other areas. If you happen to be in the area do stop by, but note that the church is not open to the public for tours so you need to find out the time schedule if you intend to see inside.

Not one of the famous tourist sights along the beaten path.

The outside impresses by its size (and maybe the dirty surface).

Inside, you'll find an impressive grandeur: magnificent stained glass windows, tasteful lighting and a huge cave like body.

A place to relax and get inspired.

Defined worth the extra walk from Madeleine or the Champs Elysées.

As soon as you enter the Church you are embraced with a wonderful spirit of catholic place to worsh the God mixed with charming scents and glowing lights. If you happen to be in that area of the city, spend few minutes visiting this church, it will gift you with a nice atmosphere. The place is not very crowded unlike other churches located closer to the city center. The neighborhood aroudn the church is rather clean and safe if such words are applicable to Paris of modern days at all.
