We booked a standard room but got upgraded. Nice size for Paris, very central (close to some excellent shops and the Metro). Bed was wonderfully comfy. Lady at breakfast was a bit scary at first and seemed a little under pressure, but I think that's just her way, I think it was a communication problem rather than attitude. I'd recommend this hotel wholeheartedly, good value. Not connected to the hotel, we needed to change at Strasburg St Denis to get to Gare Du Nord, but due to engineering works had to walk. What a district that is, very rough, made me appreciate what a good area Madeleine was, if we are in Paris again we would definitely use Chavanel again. One downer, breakfast room is in the basement, would have been ideal if it had natural light.
