The Palace of Versailles is a beautiful castle and wonderful in the history of France.
The large castle garden is like a labyrinth with large hedges and marble statues.
But the negative was the use of the toilet and that it was not clean but very dirty.
It would have been better with a toilet built in the same style as the castle than a tent.
But the castle's history is absolutely fantastic and brutal and think that the world's most popular and most beautiful Queen Marie Antionette has lived there.

Greetings from a Norwegian monarchist;)

Ummm don't understand all the hype. Gardens are beautiful especially the greco roman theme apparent throughout, history and legacy wonderful to imagine, think about, try to relive etc but overall not that great/grand, the tour inside is very limited and not as cool or interesting as other palaces/castles i've toured in Europe. Ticket nonsense is obnoxious - you only get 2 entries into the garden so you can't bounce back and forth between garden and palace on an unlimited basis. Ticket reservation time though required is not necessary or enforced in actuality, you can enter any time after your reservation is for. This was confirmed with 2 staff members and I did it, so I can confirm that is policy. What annoyed me immensely was that we planned our visit based on information from the official Versailles website - that there were no strollers/prams/pushcars allowed nor baby carriers. So we followed that guidance and we bought 2 tickets at different times one for my husband to go through and one for me to go through, alone, while the other parent stayed with our child. Since we couldn't fathom taking a toddler thru without a stroller for comfort/containment. Much to my dismay when I arrived for my turn to tour the palace I saw stroller after stroller after stroller. Absolutely mind boggling. I asked a staff member at the audio guide desk...he said that because of COVID-19 their bag check room was out of commission and thus there was nowhere for strollers to be stored/checked, so they were letting people use them. Well gee, it would have been nice to know that in advance. What a waste of time, misinformation is rampant in the booking process and their own website, and they are not catering to families if they are not sharing any updates on the new stroller policy. Ridiculous.

Although it is of course worth the visit, even in Covid times, there are too many people. You often have to wait in line to get into the various rooms. You can book tickets in advance for a specific time, but even then you have to line-up and wait to get in. It is not well organized and people were confused about which line to stand in.
Also, your ticket might not automatically include a visit of the gardens, on some days you have to pay extra.

The Saturday night fountain garden show. Do not under any circumstances park in the parking Infront of the palace. The level of stupidity of the organisers is just beyond believe. One entrance to the parking, barrier takes absolutely forever to open result 40 min to get in the parking!! If that was not bad enough on the way out the situation was even worse. 1 hour and 15 min just to get to the exit of the parking. Why? Because although the parking is free the barrier is closed and takes for ever again to open. Finally someone woke up and decided to open the barrier permanently!!! Amazing considering that this probably happens every single Saturday through the all summer it only took them until midnight to figure it out. But then you end up in a street with traffic lights that allow 2 cars at a time to pass so the barrier open makes no difference to the disaster!!!
Honestly could someone just start thinking???? The show is ok but worth the 2 hours of parking ???? No!!!!!
To the organisers, what about barrier open all the time, what about several exists available? What about police at the traffic lights??? Or does that all require to much thinking????
And apart from the parking disaster..... Well obviously making as much money as possible is the most important consideration, far too overcrowded!
This in Covid times!! No one kept a distance most people had no masks!!! The fire works were nice but not worth the annoyance and maybe covid!!

Very impressive and historical place. I did not expect it to be set on a town as it was. While it was not the highlight of our trip it was very enjoyable and a part that we could not have left out. Plenty of photo opportunities if you are a social media picture taker.
