My wife and I spent 3 nights at this hotel in Caen during our visit to Normandy. We rented a car near the train station in Caen after taking the train from Paris. You will want a car if you stay at this hotel, because it is not near the center of Caen. We drove to Mont St. Michel, St. Mere Eglise, Omaha Beach, American cemetery, Arromanches, etc. I agree with other reviewers, that I was very skeptical when we drove up as the exterior of the hotel looks very run down. Fortunately, the interior has been through a recent renovation. It was mostly done I believe when we were there. Hallways were still a bit shabby. We had a renovated room and it was nicely updated and very comfortable. We ate breakfast (extra charge) one morning in the hotel, and it was fairly good. We found a pastry shop close by (3-4 minuted drive) and ate there a few days. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It was very reasonably priced. One day while we were there the Marseille soccer team was staying there as they were playing the team in Caen. They upped security a bit as there were several fans lined up outside the gate to the parking lot. Normally that gate was open during the daytime. It was no problem as they had someone there to open it when we came and went.

We have stayed here many times & were a little disappointed on an earlier visit, however a huge re-furb has taken place. The reception area, bar/ restaurant are light & airy, very inviting; our room was fresh with a tranquil mural behind the queen size bed(very comfortable). Comfy chair good work station. The ensuite now with state of the art basin & shower. Good quality towels of a decent size.
It is in location which allows easy access to Caen, by tram & the D Day landing sites are within easy reach.
The staff all very helpful & friendly.

Room Tip: Book a superior room for more space

I actually liked this hotel even though its location is not great. The room was very clean and well organised. The restaurant was very good and the staff friendly. The hotel makes a great base if you want to visit the Normandy beaches. My only complaint was the internet/wifi - it was slow and best and inoperable for most of the time. For a business hotel this should be a real no-no.

Well situated near the city but on quite side, kind and friendly staff. Rooms have been refurbished and then are quite clean. Night was quite with very good bed.

Breakfast was fresh and quite large in term of choice.

We paid 114 euros 1 bedroom for 2 adults and 2 kids including breakfast, quite fair price

My son and I arrived on a Sunday evening having spent the previous 4 nights camping at the Le Mans 24 Hour race. A few extra comforts were anticipated but in the main, the offering was disappointing. Externally, much of the paintwork is tatty while inside, the carpeting in the passage leading to our room was tired in the extreme. It also didn't escape our notice that door frames were chipped and the wood on many bedroom doors had seen better days. Room décor is pretty basic and the aircon failed completely to deal with the admittedly high temperatures. Amazingly, there were no toiletries of any description in the bathroom which is fitted with a shower only. Cleanliness was good inside the room. Dinner was of decent quality but we thought it was on the expensive side, especially with a couple of beers thrown in. Altogether, an experience best described as mediocre and not especially good value. We will certainly look elsewhere on any future visit to Caen. The description "tired" adequately describes this property
