Stayed for 1 night with some friends before heading off to other parts of France. Stay went well, everything was great. We checked out at 11am and left our bags with the hotel and explored the city in the afternoon. We returned at around 5pm (giving the staff plenty of time to check the room and clean it) and were greeted with smiles and nothing said. A few days later we found the hotel had attempted to take numerous amounts of money from my friends card (first of all 200 euros, then 100 euros) they were unable to take these amounts but were able to take 50 euros from the card. When we rang them to ask why, they gave no explanation and after speaking perfect English at the start of the call they decided they could no longer understand us and hung up. We asked the card company to speak to them and they came back and said the hotel say we made damages to the room and beds (none of which we were told when we collected our bags or in the days to follow) they had just attempted to take money from the card without speaking to us. We were then told the hotel would e mail us to explain the situation and resolve it. This e mail never came.... this is a sneaky hotel and they have unfortunately been caught out this time when they try to scam money from people. If the manager is reading this I hope you're ashamed. We never got any of the 50 euros back that they took and we never had a word of contact from the hotel to explain any of it. Absolutely disgusting. So avoid at all costs is my advice unless you feel like getting scammed.
Apologies for the lengthy post but this needed to be made public knowledge.
