What a lucky accident that we found EAT as we explored the streets of Avignon. It just looked so inviting and quiet that we stopped for a delicous mid-day meal. Each bite was a taste sensation and the food was beautifully presented. The server/owner is a lovely person who took the time to explain things patiently in French. A wonderful experience on our second last day in France.

We were staying right next to EAT and decided to venture in for dinner. The decor is pretty and perfect for the small space and the food was the best of the best! I had the lamb dish which melted in my mouth and was loaded with fresh vegetables. My hubby had the steak dish which was the most tender meat he had ever eaten! We chatted to the lady owner for ages all about everyday life in Avignon and our home land of New Zealand. The exquisite food and the lovely owners made our visit to EAT the best dining experience of our Europe trip so far!

We were lucky enough to find EAT while we're wandering the streets of Avignon. I've since read a number of reviews by happy customers, who commented that the place was hard to find - this may be one of its charms as it is not among the bewildering array of restaurants, cafes and bistros in the main tourist areas and hence we felt that we were somewhat special in even being there.

The food was delicious. We had the - I have forgotten the French term for it - menu of the day, which comprised a pork dish with dried fruits, pommes de terre and salad, bread, a cheese platter (we could have selected a dessert instead) and a beverage (we chose wine), all for less than 15 euros. Oh, and there were nibbles before the pork was served.

Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. We arrived fairly early for lunch (about 12.30) and only a couple of tables were occupied but by the time we left, the place was packed. So either arrive early or book!

We dined at EAT in late April. Located at the end of a small lane, it is a really lovely small restaurant which provided wonderful food, excellent service and environment, all at exceptionally good value.
Each of our dishes was beautifully prepared and presented; looked good and tasted good. My starter was a visual feast (see the photo) and just great on tongue; the steak perfectly cooked with a medley of wonderful vegetables; the gizzards were perfect and the foie gras perfect.
Service was really good - friendly, personable and professional.
We had a wonderful evening and are able to recommend EAT without reservation. It is terrific!

There are so many good places to eat in Avignon and making sure you pick the right one for a special occasion is important. Luckily I found this one on Trip Advisor and it far exceeded my expectations. More importantly, my wife was blown away and had a smile on her face for the whole meal which got bigger and bigger as the courses came out. We loved the interaction with our server who turned out to be the owner. She was so patient with us and it was very apparent that her goal was to make sure we had a memorable time.
