First off, the location of Hotel Garlande is fantastic. It was a very easy walk from the Avignon Centre train station (10 min), and once settled, you are centrally located to anything you want to see. Stefan and Emmanuelle, the owners of the hotel are phenomenal. So kind and warm and extremely helpful. At check in, Stefan made sure we were familiar with how to get through the locked front door, spent a long while showing us a map of the town and sites to see, and helped us with our luggage to the room. (And it is worth mentioning that we arrived on Jan 1st, which is a holiday, but there was no complaining from Stefan about not having the day off!) We stayed in the room for four (red room, #3). There are steepish, curving stairs you must climb, up one floor for this room. The room had two double beds, a large armoire for our clothes, a small table and two chairs, as well as a small refrigerator and electric tea pot with tea and instant coffee. The bathroom was decent sized with a spacious stand up shower (no bathtub). The room was very clean and on all days after the maids were very efficient in cleaning the room right away. We enjoyed the breakfast (extra charge) some of the days we were there. It is from 8-10am, and they have a table ready for you when...First off, the location of Hotel Garlande is fantastic. Emmanuelle always had a big smile, and was very gracious every morning. There was a selection of flavored breads (savory and sweet), homemade yogurt, baguettes, croissants, cereal, fruit, hard boiled eggs, ham/cheese. And the fruit compote was delicious!! Our two kids (7 & 9 yrs) found plenty of things they liked. We found the hotel to be very quiet. Stefan or Emmanuelle were always available for questions or restaurant recommendations. If we are ever lucky enough to be back in Avignon, we would definitely stay here again! Thank you for a wonderful stay!More
