Having stayed the previous three days at the Princess & Richmond Hotel next door, I could not extend my stay there as they were fully booked so I instead opted to remain in Menton staying at the Riva Art & Spa Hotel. And I'm very glad the I did.
It's fairly well located, not too far from the Menton railway station (note : Menton and not Menton-Garavan), about ten minutes walk.
Check-in was very simple and easy and the nice lady explained everything to me. The room was a cheaper rear, mountain-view room but was fine! The view was actually pleasant and there was a balcony with two chairs and a wee table.
The room was a good size and was clean. Mini-bar, shampoo, TV, internet wifi worked well, hot water, good air-conditioning.......not much more you could ask for except.....a kettle with tea/coffee. Would really be nice if that was also in the room, but then maybe that's why it's 3 and not 4 star? Who knows.
The buffet breakfast was lovely. Coffee machine with options, cereals, yoghurts, jams and marmalade, pastries, breads, croissants, boiled eggs, cheese and cold meat selections, fruit juices, fruit etc etc. A good spread and I believe that if you you wanted scrambled eggs or bacon you could order it as extra. But really, what is on offer on the buffet is more than adequate and it was fresh and tasty!

Huge positive for this hotel is the big hot tub/jacuzzi on the roof open to the sun. To just sit in that jacuzzi was a wonderful experience! The hotel also offers various massages and has sun beds on the roof.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Just 30 metres from the hotel entrance are a couple of restaurants/bars.....and the bar at the end (Le Big Boss) was a great place to hang out in the evenings.
Also be advised that although the hotel provides a typical laundry service, there is a self-service laundry with machines about 150 metres away. It is located on Avenue du Pigautier just next to the 'Belge Frites' takeaway. Maybe a useful thing for families with kids.
Thought I had a great stay in Menton and thought this hotel was very god value for money.More
