Poor state and old furnishing

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Sept 2019via mobile
Felt like a grandmother’s lodging.. with old furnishings, especially room decor with unclean bathroom. Room was frumpy and outdated.. felt more like a hostel with dim light, barely useful for day-to-day getting ready. Toilet bowl was not scrubbed, shower curtains not very clean and sink hole was spoilt - we had to diy with the back stick that came dislodged. Tiles were old and exterior of pipings were not clean. The saving grace is that hot water flow was fast and adjusting temperatures were easy. No shaver, room slipper or toothbrush set but perhaps this is common for 3 star European hotels - im not sure.

Breakfast provides u the basics in a dining room. I would say its average for the overall price you pay. Guests were majority elderly people. Did not feel welcomed as the whole setting seems to be for the mature crowd.

The only joyful part was when the friendly male receptionist chatted with us about the unusual rain weather and showed us the map directions. We appreciated the warmth after a long journey.

worst value for money. do not stay here. staff were incompetent. decor is extremely dated. air con did not work at all and then told no other rooms available. paid a fortune for this and did not receive corresponding experience. beds and linen were awful. towels were so thin and didnt dry you at all.

Great location. Older little worn hotel but rooms were good. The breakfast was quite spartan in a dining room which felt very worn and quite impersonal. We had a mini bar in our room, unfortunately it was empty. The expectation was greater given the price of the hotel.

I wish I had read the reviews for this hotel before I booked but like many others thought the photographs looked good for a one night, pre airport, stay.....I was wrong! Our stay lasted 30 minutes before we found an alternative hotel.

The room we were allocated was dirty. The bathroom had mould embedded in the grout, a filthy shower curtain and hair in the bath. Behind the toilet and sink it was dusty and dirty.

In the bedroom there was an unclean smell...the room was dirty and dusty with a hanging light fitting. It was 32 degrees outside..no air conditioning and the towel rail was on full!!!

In the corridor there were splashes of liquid and dirty marks on most doors and I cannot describe the unclean smell here too.

We left and were followed by the cleaner who, after reaching reception before us, stood with tow staff looking perplexed. They did not attempt to appease or recompense us...one sat nodding his head when we were explaining why we were leaving.

The location is ok but I would advise people to stay nearer to the Old Town. Our only saving grace was we were lucky to get another hotel..which was lovely...and as we booked through Booking.com were fortunate to get a refund as they arranged this.

I would only give this hotel 1 star and do not know how its has got a 3 star rating at all!

Ok, where to start? After reading all the comments here we were nothing but sceptical about our stay and thought if cancelling but decided to go ahead and give it a go. We arrived around 13.30 and had the room ready. *sceptical * we got a room on the 1st floor and as soon as we go up we feel the mouldy smell that has been mentioned here before. We thought, let's see in the room. Coming to the room, not much smell but I found a long dark hair on the cushion. My husband doesn't want to make a big deal. We leave it. We go out and when we come back to go to sleep around 11pm more hairs on the end of the bed as you see on the pics. Disgusting. As I was already in my night gown, we just shook off everything and went to bed but put the don't disturb sign everyday. Room size was big and bathroom big but old as seen on the pics. We had a nice view from balcony but no privacy.
Breakfast was a real disappointment. Very few fresh fruits, if none depending on the time we came down. There was a frying pan to to do fried eggs (dyi) and boiling water to do our own boiled egg. Never saw that before. It felt very unhealthy breakfast. Pity, since I work in a hotel myself and love to enjoy breakfasts but no, not this time.
The hotel offered to rent beach towels but when we tried there were none available, they were all dirty apparently (how many do they have??) Fine, we go to the lounge in front of the hotel and there they charge 30 € per sunbed + 5€ for towels, snd guess what? Their towels are much fluffier and nicer than the ones we had at the hotel.
And to top it up the cherry on top of the cake, the last day when going for breakfast we found dog poop in our corridor in different spots. When the poor housekeeping lady comes she sighs like if she thought "not again".
Anyhow, we had a wonderful time in Nice but didn't spend time/money at the hotel/room.
