English name but quintessentially French. Owned by a husband and wife for 31 years - we could tell they take great pride in their restaurant. Menu specializes in seafood. Our fish and accompanying vegetables were delicately prepared and exquisite. Even the bread was delicious - freshly baked with a nice crust. We sat outside on the porch on a lovely, quiet street.

St Jean Cap Ferrat is a very desirable area with very affluent residents, which for the average tourist generally means everything is very expensive. A double espresso on the high street or beach club is 4 euros plus..

My wife and I visit SJCF most summers and have walked past Capitaine Cook, commenting that it looks nice and we should try it. This year we finally did and have to say, it was was one of the best value meals we had on our European road trip.

The reviews paint a hit & miss dinging experience, mainly down to service based on what I've read. We found the service of both the waiter and waitress (possibly owner) nothing but warm, sincere and hospitable. They both spoke good enough English to help us through some of the more challenging words on the menu.

We both chose the 3 course tasting menu, which was 30 euros approx, which was full of local and signature dishes. The stand out dishes we had was the lobster bouillabaisse, seabass and strawberry soup (see photos).

This is a very small restaurant so I recommend booking in advance and try to get an outside space as this will make for a more better experience.

Lovely little restaurant, we had fillet steak in green pepper sauce and sea bass. Both delicious and topped off by their own homemade liquor ❤️

Traditional cozy atmosphere with great food and wines.

Easily the best place in St Jean and the fish is fresh and beautifully presented with wonderful sauces and fresh vegetables.

Staff attentive and helpful

Never fails to deliver

We went to Capitaine Cook because it was one of the last restaurant open at 9PM.
The owner is very snobbish and rude. Most of the meals of the menu were not available. We ordered a shrimps and avocado salad which was OK and the sea bass for two which was good. The wine was not good although recommended by the owner. In short, it was quiet unpleasant and overpriced.
