Generally this hotel was great. The people were very nice and spoke enough English (for us) and were generally happy to help in any way. The common areas were all beautiful.
We opted for a 7th floor suite - The Chopin Room. Honestly, the room was pretty tired as far as furniture, carpeting and window treatments. The Carpeting had stains on it. The piping on a few of the chairs was coming off as well. We did have a chance to look at the other room in this class and it seemed to be in better shape.

The breakfast was wonderful and that room and the adjacent bar on the 1st floor had great views. The patio/deck had amazing views of the port.

I think that as a tribute to the great employees who work there, they should redo at least this room.

Here are some tips.

The bar on the first floor will give you a bucket of ice for your room if you ask.
You need to insert your room key in the holder near the door for the electric to work.
We arrived mid day and had to be let out a block away because they block off the street to car traffic at some point during the day.
The front desk people are great. They will sell you bus/Metro tickets there and make restaurant recommendations etc.
There is a Monoprix grocery store just a block away.
There is a mini bar in the room that was complimentary.
There is a Nespresso machine in the room and 4 servings of coffee and milk.

Again, this is such a nice property with a great location and staff! Maybe all of the other rooms are just great and just Chopin was in need of help. Enjoy!

We had a rental car and this was going to be our last overnight before taking the TGV to Paris. We drove around and around and around trying to find some way to get to the hotel. It was just impossible, so we ended up leaving our rental car with the rental agency at the train station where we had originally picked it up. We then took a taxi to the hotel.

We found the gentleman who checked us in to be not terribly knowledgeable. We went to our room which was on the seventh floor in the Chopin Suite. We immediately had to call down to the desk because of a sound coming from the air conditioning system. The engineer was called to see if he could remedy this situation but we ended up just turning the fan off. Our telephone did not work for making a call down to the desk so of course we had to go down to the desk each time we had a question or wanted to place an order. Since there is no restaurant or room service for a meal or a snack we had to go outside the hotel. Part of the neighborhood is not very safe although the hotel itself does have a good location with a view of the harbor.

We found the room to be very tired and the rug soiled. This is one of the oldest hotels if not the oldest hotel in Marseille but really needs to take a good look at freshening it.

We did not stay to have the breakfast in the hotel. So, I can’t review that but see that others found it to be very adequate.

Other than the lovely views from the room I doubt that I would ever stay here again. There are just other options of hotels that are more up-to-date.

Room tip: Parking is a huge headache as is just trying to find a hotel. Even taxis have difficulty getting close to the entrance.

Overall an excellent stay. When arriving there was a problem with the street blocks which could not be lowered. Obviously not caused by the hotel and its staff, but we missed some assistance to bring our luggage from the car til the hotel - we had to carry a relatively big load ourselves about 100 metres.
Also, one evenning we requested a bottle of wine to take to our suite, and was somewhat surprised that it could not be charged to, the room. Even worse, both my credit cards were refused - by the way the only time during our three week stay in France:(
Apart from this we were fully satisfied.

Accor hotels always deliver. MGallery in the Vieux Port of Marseille was another example. Fantastic location, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, all as expected. When possible, I always choose one of the hotels from Accor, as they are reliable and good value.

Excellent four star hotel with good amenities in the rooms - shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel, body lotion plus nail file, shower cap, cotton buds, cotton wool pads and water in the mini fridge, safe in the room. Dressing gown and slippers provided. I paid extra for a slightly larger room with a view of the Old Port and it was well worth it. The Port is noisy but the double glazing is very good. The A/C in the room was good. The room and bathroom were clean and serviced daily. I thought the shower could do with an upgrade - no hotels have a hand held shower these days but it was sufficient. Also the room carpet and the main stair carpet are tired and could do with replacing but they were clean and vacuumed. The reception staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful, always pleased to see me when I came back in and interested in knowing what I’d been up to. Milolo was especially good, getting my room ready a bit earlier when I arrived on an early flight, helping with information and printing out my boarding card when I left, but they were all lovely. As a single woman traveller I felt safe and comfortable/at home in the hotel and would highly recommend it. I would definitely go back.

Room tip: Choose a room with a view of the Old Port - it’s worth the money
