The hotel is among the oldest in Marseille. It needs a bit of TLC but is quite comfortable.
The selling point is its location, in the centre of the Old Port.
If you stay in the city the Old Port is the place to be. The nerve centre of nightlife.
What you can't find on the waterfront is nearby in the squares leading off from it.
We chose a room with a balcony view of the port. Boats, boats and more boats.
To the left, way up the hill, was a view of the Basilica Notre-Dame de la Garde, an iconic landmark of the city.
You can get to it outside the hotel by bus or a little urban train.
The hotel does a cooked breakfast but not dinner. The staff are extremely good.More
