Fabulous hotel. the view the people the beds..... Have booked to go back.

Sofitel definitely have the most comfortable beds, there was a problem with the booking and the booking agent booked 2 rooms for myself and my wife , the hotel sorted the problem with charm and grace

The breakfast was wonderful

It's July, it's boiling hot and Marseille is bustling down by the Old Port but here, with the best breakfast view of any hotel in Marseille you will find a cool oasis with high quality service.

Try to request a room that doesn't overlook the swimming pool (which belongs to the Novotel next door) as they have had noisy music till 11:30pm every night. Properly noisy music that you can clearly hear the words being sung. If you're out till late and don't care, that's fine but if you're with children, it'll be very irritating indeed.

The swimming pool is warm, adequate number of loungers, fresh towels etc but you do have to walk through a mini bar place that's part of the Novotel.

Get to breakfast before 9am and you'll probably have the place almost to yourselves. It's a wonderful choice of foods and to sit on the terrace and see across the water, yachts and watercraft, fluttering flags of the old fort from high up on the 7th floor is a piece of heaven. We were recommended this view by friends in Paris and they were right.

We only had one day in the hotel. Could only check in at 4 p.m. Decided to spend our time at the pool waiting for our room. The pool was awful. Very crowded very dirty water and faeces floating near the surface! No attendant on duty. One arrived about two hors after our arrival to remove the human excrement and then proceeded to pour in copious quantities of chlorine powder. The pool was unusable for another two hours after treatment. Filter not working properly as water was cloudy. All in all not a pleasant experience. For the rest the hotel was average. Five star prices, thee star quality.

was ok but preferred to be on a Cruise ship than stay in here for too long, it was ok but really needed to be at sea all the time. Food ok and the rooms were alright but could not wait to leave and get on with my travels on board a ship again

I stayed for one night as part of a business trip and have to admit I was disappointed by the hotel. On the positive side, the staff was lovely and service was nice and helpful. But the big disappointment was the room. First of all it was overlooking the loading bay and a 80s building at the back (the back of the Novotel next door presumably). I realize not everyone can get the sea or harbor view but the alternative is truly depressing. It was also very noisy with, presumably, deliveries etc. going on underneath the window. The AC didn't really seem to work properly. The room furnishing also felt old and tired. So definitely not the kind of room experience expected from a 5 star, and as a result felt quite poor value for money.
