If you are looking for a romantic "old fashion" hotel this one is for you. A true 5 stars with great service, views that you can only dream, a wonderful swimming pool and delicious breakfast. A realm of calm in a busy and alive city.

The hotel has great reviews and it has a lovely view however, for the price I was surprised at how cheap the furniture throughout looks. I booked a deluxe suite which had an amazing view of the city but the bathroom had a tub with a shower nozzle but was not enclosed so unless you sit down and hold it on you it is messy and uncomfortable. Bathroom was large with two sinks, small couch and chair in bedroom with a table for dining if you want room service. The pool area with jacuzzi, heated pool and a pair of heated chaise lounges is beautiful but due to rainy weather while were in Lyon we could not utilize it. The hotel sits atop the old historic area which makes it great for going down to eat, shop and site see in that area but the climb back up is hard for older people.

The staff were lovely and assist you with everything. They have a bar area to enjoy a cocktail or food if you're not dining in their restaurant. We were not told that breakfast was included, for a charge, with our room until check out so they removed the fees immediately since we didn't eat breakfast at the hotel. The wifi password was not given to us at check in and we had to go down and ask for it and were given a paper with an account name and password good for only 1 device so if you have several devices you'll need one for each.

We asked about breakfast in town on Sunday and were given a map with some locations however by the time we arrived they had stopped serving at 11 -which is not mentioned online when reviewing local eateries so don't dawdle or eat at the hotel.

The hotel is very sedate. I don't know if it's because of the price point and mostly older couples stay. The restaurant has a great view and is very good.

If I returned for the price I would ask for a room with a better shower. The room we got was not like the one shown on the website.

Conversion of historic convent to hotel preserved original soaring arches and other architectural details with traditional decor and furnishings. Building is sited high up on a hill with a beautiful garden and pool overlooking the city in a dramatic setting. Access to old city restaurants, shops is via a long long set of stairs. Service was excellent with a warm welcome accompanied by fresh juices and madeleines and expresso and pains aux raisins on checkout. Beds, linens were heavenly. Restaurant was excellent especially if you let the sommelier pick the wines to accompany your meal.

For the French, Lyon is tops for gourmet choices. It is said that this is how Paris was 30 years ago. Further, this is the best hotel in Lyon!

It is in a former convent, the chapel is now the reception area. Top notch location and views! Wonderful!

It is updated and has modern bathrooms and amenities. The views from the pool terrace are astonishing.

We traveled as a family of 10 occupying 4 rooms in the hotel and spent 4 nights at the hotel.

We were rather skeptical about the location of the hotel having read several reviews about it being high on top of the hill and the only way to get there from the old town on foot is through several flights of steep stairs.

But you can't beat the location of this place. The view is breathtaking and the hotel is ever so charming that it really worths the sweat.

In fact those stairs are not that bad ( as long as you are not carrying a 2-year-old who refused to walk). There are two sets of stairs, one further up hill from the hotel and yes, those are super steep, and another which is lower down hill from the hotel and they are quite manageable. My parents who are in their 70s took the stairs slowly (while the kids ran up) and did just fine.

Besides, its just a short walk (though up more hill) to the basilica, which of course, everyone must visit at least once.

Rooms in the hotel are spacious, tastefully decorated and clean. I really enjoyed the rooms on the 2nd floor (no. 2 and 3) which come with private balconies. Upper floor rooms provide panoramic view of the old town and the city beyond.

Food is of high quality. Breakfast is basic but good quality and plentiful. We dealt directly with the hotel and got breakfast included in the room rate, so worth trying.

We also had dinner there on our first night which was a bit hard with 3-4 kids who were not used to the french restaurant etiquette, but the staff was trying their best to accommodate. Food was superb.

Room service was standard, offering basic food like fish chicken or pasta with plenty of bread. Great option when traveling with a bunch of kids but I am sure you can find cheaper and tastier food in town.

Service was excellent from the front desk to housemaids. They were fast attentive and did their job professionally.

We will definitely stay here again if we have a chance.
