I stayed here because the trip to Lyon was too far from my supplier. But next time I even walk to Lyon. It's absolutely a disaster for a 4 star hotel. They can maybe reach 3 star on a very good day.
Rooms are very small old and if you're allergic, sleep in your car.
People working here are punished I think except for the lady at the reception who was friendly and helped really.
If you're gas is gone than stay. Else drive away !!!!

In April I made a reservation and paid a deposit for 3 rooms unfortunately at the HDG in Saint Etienne instead of the HDG in Morocco. a week before our intended arrival I discovered the error and cancelled the reservation and requested a refund of the deposit. The hotel advised that as i had cancelled within a week of arrive a refund was not possible - and when i pointed out that i had cancelled a week prior to arrival - they changes the rules as said that it needed to be 2 weeks and that THEY had forgotten to send me the terms and conditions when i made the original booking. Yes i should have asked however i would never think that a hotel would act so unethically. I had written proof that the original booking had been made in error and that i had made the cancelation 7 days prior. I cancelled on the 23rd of October and since then i have tried calling, emailing numerous times to try and resolve this issue - they keep saying that they will speak to the general manager and come back to me which of course never happens and the general manager will not take my call nor will he answer my email - absolutely incredibly BAD customer service. If this is the tone and culture of the management then i can't image what a stay would be like. It is really very sad that i have to take this issue to social media and consumer affairs - but please DO NOT pay this hotel a deposit.

Apart from the location and the pool, this hotel is average, and is not worth the 4 stars that are mentioned on the portal. Rooms are clean, but small and the design is so so. Restaurant is ok but not crazy. Service is hell, and the food is ok. Better to go a little bit further if you can, like at the Charpinière.
This hotel is not as bad as the Mercure, but is not exceptionnally good as it is supposed to be.

Came here for lunch and the food was nothing more than average. The menu looks great with many exciting dishes but unfortunatly the food received was of a average quality. Steaks done well done when asked for medium rare and food not becoming the talk of the table. The waiters were well trained but could be a little more friendly. Great Shame. Has great potential

The Hotel du Golf is located in the outskirts of St Etienne - however, it's only a 10 min ride to reach the station, so I guess that location is fine - but don't expect to wander around, you will need a car to get dowtown. This was a short stay for me but staff was young, polite and helpful, both at the frontdesk and the restaurant. Brekfast in the morning was great - and fresh roses at the table were a unexpected touch of class at 7 a.m. in the morning! Overall, the hotel looks new with modern amenities, and a trendy look. Rooms are small, in a parisian style which is surprising for an hotel which is not located in city center - however, they are comfy and immaculate clean. WiFi is complementary, but quite slow. Other down I found: you may experience sound issues because from you room you can hear clearly people coming and out from the other rooms - shifting to better insulated doors would probably help, for the peace of the guests. Apart from that, may stay was pleasant. March in Saint Etienne is probably not the best season to enjoy the outside part of the hotel, so I hardly can make further comments.
