Lovely hotel, stay there each year, great location, comfy, clean and swimming pool is a plus, it is close to the Castle, Town Square and numerous good traditional restaurants, only 10-15mins walk to Central Station as well, quiet and comfortable, with responsive staff, breakfast good with plenty of choice

Terrific old-town location with nice cafe and eateries nearby. We had a small but well-furnished and attractive room, an immaculate bathroom, a firm but comfortable bed, and big windows that open wide the full length of one wall above the facilities outdoor patio. Very friendly hosts and staff. We did notice a small carpet stain and a musty smell in one corner of the room. Hot days can be problematic here...it was a very warm and humid day, and the room was stifling upon arrival - no a/c, cross-ventilation impossible :( despite the huge windows. And no room fans either :( We fled to the streets immediately. Lucky for us a downpour promptly lowered the temps, and after our outdoor meal, we returned to the room and let the windows fill our room with comfort. We had a very comfortable sleep that night and a fantastic breakfast with lots of traditional German AND other fun, diverse offerings (I believe the family that owns/operates the hotel has eastern European roots and offers their home cuisine to guests.)

This place seems to do everything very well. If it would just deal with those hot days... It would get 5 stars from me if it at least had room fans of some sort.

I read a review criticizing this place for not meeting "American standards." I do agree but the reality is European hotels typically don't unless you are willing to pay big bucks.

Let's get some misconceptions out of the way. Yes, there is an elevator. How do I know? Because I took it multiple times to get my luggage to the fifth floor. Also, yes there is free wifi, but not provided by the hotel. We were able to hook on to a Telekom free wifi and got pretty good reception in our room. Yes, I know it's not secure but is it that much worse than the hotel wifis in the states?

Otherwise, the hotel had three big pluses. Big rooms, especially for Europe. We comfortably slept four in a room which was about 50% bigger than a standard hotel room. Fantastic breakfast. Loads of choices. Really one of the best hotel breakfast buffets I have had in a while. Finally, it's all about the location. All the major sites are all within an easy walk. Nice not having to drive.

This hotel is placed within the city center and it offers a normall room space when visiting the city. Very near the cebtre and shopping area, just a few steps away. Nothing spectaculary spacious but comfortable and very clean. German standard. The breakfast is downstairs within the restaurant and offers very good service. Will come back again for sure.

Perfectly situated smack dab in the middle of the walled old town, down the street from the imposing Neutor and a short walk downhill from the more imposing Castle (Burg) the Burg Hotel makes for a delightful stay. The hotel is attractive, the staff is friendly and helpful and the hot buffet breakfast is fresh and filling (There is an extra, but worthwhile, charge.) Comfortable room with windows that open onto the street and a small shower with a powerful spray makes for a pleasant stay. There is also a stocked mini-bar for the hungry guest. Wonderful hotel, one where I would gladly stay again.
