The price was alright (3 people for 4 nights includet breakfast 305€). Firstly we were given room on 4th floor after being woken up several times during night by the group of italian student we were given another room from arogant receptionist with bad english who practicaly blame us for the noise. Old building no wheelchair access, elevator stops in the middle of the floor. We were given one key which was for outside door and room door (reception is only on 4th floor and we had room on 3rd) and they obviously have some issue with theft from rooms as everywhere were pictures dealing with it.

Hotel location is good. Lots of cafeterias and street restaurants nearby, shopping street just around the corner, the ZOO is 500 meters away, S-bahn, U-bahn also about 500m. So this is good.
Rooms are quite ok, beds comfortable, bathroom has plenty of room.
Bad: The reception is on the upper floor. Breakfast room is also on the upper floor, and very tiny. The selection is poor, the omlette is probably made for 5 persons only, so you have to wait a while..
You can't rally sleep in the mornings if your windows are toward courtyard...Since there is a cocktail bar Gecco next to the hotel door, and it's open untill 4 am, since they throw all the bottles to garbage and it is very loud when glass drops against metal and other bottels, and the garbage cans are located in the courtyard of the hotel, so...

Otherway ok

Hotel is located in the best area of berlin in the zoologischer area. Area full of restaurants, shops and cinemas and malls. The hotel was easily found cause its next to a restaurant called the upper grill . Check in was at 2 pm , scary entry but exciting . I guess they have the bad receptionists in the whole world. I was welcomed by a grumpy man. They had no baggage storage room so i had to put my luggage in the reception. Well guys no AC in this hotel . Dont book it if we are in summer!!!! It's a sauna !!! We had a double room on the roof, we couldnt stay in the hotel during the day . We asked for 2 fans . Staff wasn't helpful at all , they didnt help us getting our luggage to our rooms even ( expect a strange narrow stair to get to your room) . I don't recommend this hotel for summer. Breakfast was good , nothing special we had to wait each day for fresh bread . Don't expect too much . It was ok for us. It is really strange hotel, weird , old building . We were attracted by the rates . We couldn't complain much cause the area was perfect and spent all our days on the streets.

The room was spacious and both the bed and bathroom were clean. The hotel is very close to shops/malls and public transport. Next door restaurants and bars are also very convenient. Breakfast is ok.

We were in Berlin for 5 days and had booked this hotel for 1 night before we could stay in the hotel where we normally stay while visiting Berlin. That hotel was fully booked.

The carpet in the hotel was old, smelly and dusty with lots of stains. The elevator starts on the first floor so we first had to carry our suitcases to that floor before we could enter. Coming out of the elevator on the top floor there is another stairs before entering the reception, so again we had to carry our suitcases. Going to the room a few others stairs forced us to carry the suitcase again.

I would say this hotel is good for backpackers and those who travel with small bags. For me the hotel is too vintage.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location - very close to U-bahn, S-bahn stations, the zoo and other touristic places.
I stayed in the hotel together with my husband for 3 nights. During our visit the weather was hot (about 30C), and when we checked in, it was very frustrating to find out that air conditioner did not work. In addition to this, the smell in the room was just unbearable. The room literally smelt like pee. When we asked to changed the room, we were told that there were no free rooms at the moment and that the source of smell was leaking refrigerator, which was taken away from our room (the new one was not provided).
To be able to survive in that place, we had to sleep with widely open windows and I spent the first night completely sleepless, because of the noise from restaurants, close to the hotel.
Other frustrating things were a filthy carpet with dirty stains on it, greasy stains on bedhead, worn out wallpapers, dusty windows.
On the first morning, we had to skip breakfast in the hotel, because it was too crowded and there were no free places to eat, people were staying in a queue to have a breakfast.

I do not recommend the hotel. I stayed in cheaper places, which were a lot more better.
