There is a lot to read here! It's absolutely fascinating, but there are a couple of times information is repeated which could have been streamlined a little.
There are two floors that are recreated as offices of the time and they are quite atmospheric; it also wasn't very busy when we visited, which was towards the end of a Tuesday afternoon, so that added to the eeriness!
We underestimated how much there was to see and only left ourselves about 90 minutes. We could easily have stayed longer. We were there right up until closing time, but didn't feel pressured to get out by the staff at all.

Found the complex easily enough exiting UBahn nearby, admission cheap withBerlin Card, well worth the 2.5 hours we needed to spend to visit all 3 floors. The austere furnishings the facinating, never knew how sinister and corrupt the Stasi were. Fear, secrecy and isolation in the days before social media, worth a visit, there is 2 small cafes, and rest rooms,

I made the mistake of not arriving on opening time, paying admission & going thru the exhibits 3 floors straight away. I decided to read the display boards outside first, which if you read it all can take a hour. There is also video screens on the display boards. Interesting reading, but suggest looking at it after being inside. That way you will have less people to jostle around to look at the exhibit.
The temporary exhibit is only in german, but only a few rooms.
Fairly easy to find, after looking at other reviews pictures & comments that gave you directions from the U5 Magdalenenstrabe station, Frankfurter Allee exit.
Worth the EUR6 admission.
Tour coach load arrived at 2pm.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a better understanding of the DDR. The museum is located on the sprawling campus (more than 50 acres) that was the Stasi headquarters. At one time the Stasi had nearly 9000 employees to “control” the East German population. Displays show the history, the methods, and the personnel that made control possible.

Interest in 70s architecture is itself the reason to pop in. The atmosphere is very authentic f.ex. with lace curtains and pater noster -lifts. Complex also includes 2 modest cafes. In the other one it is possible to watch very interesting Die Firma - Das Ministerium fur Staatssicherheit -documentary film. I have never spent so much time in any other museum than here. Also buildings and architecture as well as Lichtenberg area around are fascinating of its' own time.
