Does cooking with love make food taste better? I believe it does.
We visited Vino and Basilico because of the reviews on Trip Advisor and because it is walking distance from where we are staying in Mitte, Berlin. We were not disappointed. Everything was fresh and delicious.
Our meal began with a bread basket with imported olive oil for dipping. I ordered a green salad, and bread soup, and my husband ordered the sea bass. One bite of the salad (yes.....the salad) and I knew we had found a great restaurant. The salad greens tasted like they had just come fresh out of the garden, and the salad dressing was delicious and complex. A restaurant that goes this kind of trouble for a salad has to be really good.
My soup was excellent, with textures of bread and tomato soup, with some mozzarella cream. Yum! My husband's meal, The Branzino, came as a fillet, perfectly cooked and was served on a bed of sautéed spinach with a sauce of diced tomatoes, capers, olives and potatoes. He loved it.
The restaurants has indoor and outdoor seating and a Berlin Hip decor.
The meal was well priced considering the quality of the food.
We met the Co-owner, Franchesco who is from Milan, and very gracious. The other Co-Owner is the chef. He said the restaurant had only been open for about 9 months.
We will be back for dinner tomorrow.
